To worry about taking my 3 year old to see tinkerbell at the cinema?

Has anyone seen it? She has never seen a full film before and gets scared in Ben and Holly cartoons :-/
Is it as scary as some of the Disney princess ones? I remember being v scared at the cinema watching the care bear movie when I was a lot older then her - she has obviously inherited my scaredy cat genes. Any advice much appreciated! xx

My 3 year old dd saw it and loved it, I thought it was good too -enjoy!

scrappydappydoo · 01/03/2013 12:09

Which Tinkerbell film and what sort of thing scares her?

spongebobsquareeyes · 01/03/2013 12:09

Took my two dds to see it, my youngest is 3 and loved it!

Why not take her to one of the cheaper child screenings of something first to make sure she is ok with the whole thing without wasting a lot of money? It's only about £1.50 each

Fakebook · 01/03/2013 12:15

Not tinkerbell, but I took dd to the cinema for the first time when she was three to watch Tangled and she loved it. We had the whole cinema to ourselves which was good because she could talk or shuffle about without disturbing anyone. Dd has a tinkerbell DVD, and it's not scary or anything, so this new movie should be the same.

It is a lovely gentle little film with nothing scary in it at all. I saw it with my mum and DD 5 and we all enjoyed it.

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 01/03/2013 12:19

My niece's first cinema trip, at about 3, ended in floods of tears, when she realised it wasn't like a DVD at home, and she couldn't watch it again when it finished! That was Tinkerbell, presumably an earlier one though, and she loved it. DSis bought her the DVD and she watched it to death.

That sounds really promising - thanks everyone. A friend has invited us along (with her DD who is a nursery friend of my DD's) this weekend and it think it would be a really nice girly outing. Was just worried it might have witches or monsters or other baddies in it. It doesn't take much to scare her! I will try to find a trailer to watch but any info re potential baddies v helpful. Thanks Smile

We brought my 3yo who is scared of quite a number of things. She loved it, was sitting with wide eyes and rapt attention the whole movie. Nothing scary in it, it was a very gentle nice movie

There are no 'baddies' but there is 'mild peril' - separation, a bit sad in places, but probably about as gentle a film as you could hope for.
I took my DD to the cinema for the first time at about that age - she would sit through a film quite happily at home, but we did find we took her out of the cinema a few times when it got a bit much - went to see 'UP' and she totally lost it when the house got set on fire and we had to leave!

MamaMia100 · 01/03/2013 13:08

Mild peril doesn't mean dead mothers does it? As in finding nemo?!!

:-)
No, although I decided against taking mine to see 'Brave' after a friend of mine warned me there was mother separation in it which I'm not sure my DD can take!
Bit of a plot spoiler....Tinkerbell discovers she has a sister, but she lives in a different part of Fairyland which is all frozen and the fairies are not allowed to travel between the two realms as it is DANGEROUS!!! but the two sisters can't bear to be parted (etc etc) so they try and find away to keep meeting. There is a bit where the freeze starts spreading to Pixie Hollow is slightly alarming but ultimately all is fine and happy.

MamaMia100 · 01/03/2013 14:01

Thank you beamur, that's really helpful. I can talk about it with her beforehand and she will know when to look away/ go to the loo!
Quite excited now! Haven't been to the cinema for about 4 years!!

I took ds3 to see this when it came out in dec. Its very tame, not scary, no 'badies' my younger three all love the tinkerbell films. There are a few others yoi van gey on dvd. One is slightly scary, its the one where tink makes a hot air balloon i forgrt the name of it.

They are quite sweet gilms, not too long either :)

MrsLouisTheroux · 01/03/2013 14:47

It's a sweet story, nothing nasty. You should take her!
