To make my dd eat her dinner?

My dd aged 9 has decided she doesn't like the dinner I have given her tonight despite enjoying it in the past, I have offered to make something else but she doesn't want anything I have said, AIBU to make her eat it now it has turned cold and she is adamant she doesn't like it anymore?

I wouldn't do anything tbh, just tell her it's there if she's hungry and leave her to it.
You can't make her eat it.

Brideandgloom · 27/02/2013 17:38

Yabu. She won't starve herself indefinitely. Offer bread and butter. Kids can go through phases, she could just be knackered and not want dinner tonight, she could just not fancy it.

ClutchMyPearls · 27/02/2013 17:38

Don't make her eat it, no.

Don't make anything else, just leave it, and if she asks, heat it up later.

If she doesn't want to eat, don't make her.

YouTheCat · 27/02/2013 17:38

She's 9 and old enough to know if she's hungry. Keep the dinner in case she wants to eat it later.

LynetteScavo · 27/02/2013 17:39

Er, so you offered to make something else, which she declined, now you are thinking of making her eat it now it's cold?

Maybe she just doesn't want to eat anything.

In my house if she suddenly didn't like something, she wouldn't have to eat it, but I wouldn't be cooking anything else! Non of my DC have died of starvation yet.

Never make a child eat food. Ever. It can cause life long issues with food. I know.

Just leave it.

Maybe she isn't hungry?

I don't always feel like dinner.

poodletip · 27/02/2013 17:57

YABU, maybe she's coming down with something. If she's just being fussy she'll end up hungry won't she and she'll learn. You can't force a person to eat.

Popsie3 · 27/02/2013 17:57

Thanks everyone, She hasn't eaten it but it will be there for her if she decides she wants it, No doubt it will be eaten when she wants something nice later Smile

I agree with everyone. When she most likely comes to you later saying she's hungry offer to heat up her dinner, but that's all I would offer (nothing different or treat like).
