[drama queen moment]

i know aibu but i am ranting anyway. i feel like being an unreasonable person today.

they took my cast off today (well i took it off last week because it was doing my head in and dh's idea of clean is very different to mine. i needed to move my arm, but they've given me permission to keep it off my wrist is better)

then they go and give me a massive support for my elbow, which is not improving at all and tell me not to take it off except for physio, so now i can move my arm even less than when i took the sodding cast off so i could move my arm more Sad

they hate me don't they?

YABU, I'm sure another more angry rant would have been written if they had done absolutely nothing to help your arm and you were in continuous agony and had problems in later life which may have ended in an operation rather than just a cast and physiotherapy meaning that you would have an even longer recovery time and more complications... Just a thought Grin

Or maybe cut your arm off(to show the students how to do it )

D0oinMeCleanin · 27/02/2013 13:46

i like medical students, but not that much Grin

my boss seems to think i can take off my sling/tent thingy to come to work because i need to keep my arm mobile, even though the doctors said no Confused

still at least he agrees they hate me Grin

Oh but hey Dooin at least your massive support for your elbow is CLEAN Grin

DH has broken bones just now too, and has a sling. He's fed up.
Not as fed up as I am though, as he can (apparently) do nothing for himself whatsoever. He won't be able to drive for another couple months (at least) and needs me to give him a lift to/from work, hospital, doctors, anywhere and everywhere.
Rant away. Much better to do it online than in RL.

D0oinMeCleanin · 27/02/2013 15:06

you really cant do much though, although i've now figured out how to open the coffee jar one handed and pull up my jeans, which means no more horrid leggings.

it's the not doing stuff that is making me fed up. dh thinks it is acceptable to leave last nights pots in the sink until this evening. it is not acceptable to do this Angry

I am about to have an op that will mean Feet Up for two weeks then 4 weeks after that of progressive hobbling and physio and no driving. I'm in denial.

eve34 · 27/02/2013 15:14

Afternoon doing. Sounds like you are making progress. I had really hoped I would be up and about by now, but it is looking like it is going to be the 8 weeks they told me it would take for my hip to heal :-(

Just want to be able to see to the baby and get to/from school. I tried yesterday but it nearly finished me off.

Hope you are soon back to normal

OTTMummA · 27/02/2013 15:57

If you soak the pots immediately after use then you can wash them up quite easily standing side ways to the sink (it's noisy but at least they will get clean) use the side of the sink as a support.

D0oinMeCleanin · 27/02/2013 16:16

i've moved the pot drainer and put the dirty pots on the draining board to wash but it makes a very big mess [sigh] the floor gets a good soaking too, kinda multi tasking except i cant use our twisty mop with only one arm, so we now have a floor towel instead Grin

i think my biggest issue is going to be managing to convince my boss that no, i can't take the sling off and 'manage somehow' on the busiest night of the week, because i have been told over exercising my elbow will make the healing process take longer. he thinks i need to be 'logical' and logic tells him that if i don't move my elbow as much as possible it will go stiff and not heal right, whereas my logic says if i have to spend three years studying just to be able to rehabilitate aggressive dogs, then an orthodontic surgeon must have studied forever, so i really ought to assume that they know what they are talking about when they tell me to keep the sling on except for physio Hmm

sorry you are not getting better as quick as you thought eve. hope you start improving soon.

Fingers crossed. My mum has done a fabulous job. I just want to get on with it myself. Not the way I planned to spend the last 8 weeks of my mat leave :-(

holidaysarenice · 01/03/2013 04:54

I know I'm being cheeky but it made me giggle when I saw it!
Orthodontic surgeons do teeth....yes they are mean!

Orthopaedic surgeons do elbows, if you're lucky they are usually hot!!!!

MrsMorton · 01/03/2013 07:20

holidays my dad has this awful joke
"I've broken my foot so I'm off to see the orthodontist surgeon,
Don't you mean orthopaedic?
Well I stand corrected"

Boom boom

OP I hope you're on the mend soon. I don't think they hate you!
