We have a day off together today and only one dc as other one is in preschool SmileI asked dh what we should do with our day and he said I hear the new Morrisons has been refurbished we could go and take a lookShock Even more depressing is that I found that i quite liked the idea and so that is how we spent our morningConfused Sorry about lack of grammar in this post the punctuation keys have packed up so had to substitute smilies for full stopsGrinGrin

Have a lovely time Grin

Tweasels · 27/02/2013 12:34

Absolutely not. Does your new Morrisons have the lovely fruit and veg section with stuff you've never seen before in your life?

It's an educational visit and if you're feeling very adventurous I'd eat in the cafe also. Last week (half term). All kids meals were free with an adult meal. DS had adult fish and chips, DD had kids spag Bol. Both came with free drinks. I had a tea. The whole lot came to £5.30 - amazing.

Impressive punctuation replacement system. Remarkably effective.

:o

The highlight of my month has been going to Lidl and discovering all the food they do and how much cheaper it is! Rock and roll.

freddiefrog · 27/02/2013 12:51

YABU

DH's suggestion of a trip to the local garden centre at the weekend to 'see what they've got in' is the most depressing

Morrisons is positively rock and roll compared to a bloody garden centre Grin

MrsMushroom · 27/02/2013 12:52

That is NOT depressing. It is joyous. DH and I like to go to garden centres too. It's being grown up...we like pot plants and reduced cream cakes.

MyNameIsAnAnagram · 27/02/2013 12:55

Hmm, I think the time DH and I (pre dcs) were weighing up morning sex vs maccyd's breakfast and the breakfast won out may be more depressing Grin

FergusSingsTheBlues · 27/02/2013 12:56

Mine likes to go rooting around the reduced section at waitrose....I respond by buying sneaky lunches from m&s as a form of rebelion.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 27/02/2013 12:56

We like a bit of a supermarket rummage too Blush

wannabedomesticgoddess · 27/02/2013 12:57

"It's being grown up" :o

I went into the kitchen last night to make dinner and there was a cup of tea on the counter. Milk in it but it was stone cold. I said to DP "did you forget to drink your tea?"

Apparently he came in from the gym and thought it would be very "civilised" to have a cup of tea, but forgot to drink it :o

We are always trying to be grown up.

CecyHall · 27/02/2013 13:00

Has it got water misted veg?

I'm so excited by the new Morrisons in the next town along, it's not something I like to admit to!

SoniaGluck · 27/02/2013 13:04

My daughter went to visit a friend in Derbyshire and went shopping in the Morrisons in Buxton ( I think it was Buxton). She was describing it to me.

I got really excited. Now, bear in mind I hadn't actually seen it, I was just hearing about it.

I lead a very, very tedious life.Sad

Flisspaps · 27/02/2013 13:16

Our new Morrisons has little water sprayers over the veg, keeping them watered - a constant mist over the herbs. Very fancy,

Writehand · 27/02/2013 13:21

I don't have a car but my neighbour very kindly drives me and her cousin to Morrisons every Thursday. We do our shopping and meet up in the cafe after. As someone who works from home, this is a real outing for me. I enjoy rummaging in supermarkets.

Our Morrisons (Woking) is clean and lovely. The cafe is very good value and I totally adore its over the top "Lumpy Bumpy" mega chocolate cake.

It is a bit sad, but I do enjoy my outing. And the misting thing over the salady stuff is nice. And the flowers. I like Morrisons. Am in danger of wandering off into burbles. Smile

TantrumsAndBalloons · 27/02/2013 13:25

The most depressing thing my DH ever said to me was 2 years ago.
It was a boiling hot day and he said "I'm sitting here thinking oh I will have to go and water the garden as its so hot"

"Ok" I said.

Then he said "when we were younger, a hot sunny Sunday would make me think of going to the pub, sitting outside, having a good drink. Now it makes me think oh bloody hell the grass is going to dry up.
We must be getting old.

Pickles101 · 27/02/2013 13:28

Water mist over the veg!? Fuck it, I'm no where near a Morrisons Sad

GlitteryShitandDanglyBaubles · 27/02/2013 13:37

Well. I have a lovely morrisons near me, and I love garden centres. I'm a keen gardener, though I'm not into cream cakes anymore, more organic veg or summat like that. I love tea. I grow my own herbs ike chamomile to make my own tea out of!

I'm 36. I have an 'edgy' hairstyle, a ring in my nose, multiple ear piercings and a reasonably good dress sense I hope.

I end up chatting to elderlly couples in garden centres while my husband (think leather jacketed old punk) checks out the decorative fencing and finials.

Passthesaltdear · 27/02/2013 13:41

Oh good glad im not the only oneWinkI must admit we both perved over the ice beds and water misting on the fruit and veg and the wicker baskets which made me feel like I was shopping in one of those whole food organic middle class overpriced market shopsGrinThe cafe looked like there was a delicious range of suitably dirty meals on offer but we had just spent Ninety pounds on food when we only went in for nappies and dishwasher tablets so we had to pass it byGrin

Tantrums - My DH said something very similar to yours one morning when I woke up and saw the blue sky and went "Ooh - what a lovely day for washing!" Hmm

aldiwhore · 27/02/2013 13:51

I spent £4 on an extremely large orange/grapefruit thing, out of curiousity, I wondered what this marvelous giant fruit would taste of. It tasted of orangeygrapefruit.

I like getting old and dull though and am very glad DH is onside. We spend hours browsing interesting fruit, and we collect seed packets from Garden Centres then put them in a big bowl to mix them up... it adds further excitement to our gardening. Last year our chilli plants were rhubarb.

Hmm. I think I need to get out more.

WilsonFrickett · 27/02/2013 13:51

I have a DF who talks about a 'middle age Sunday'. You should all be her friends. You'd all get on great. A wee tootle round the garden centre, off to Morrisons (meal plan in hand) and a wee cup of tea somewhere. Lovely. Grin

mintymellons · 27/02/2013 13:52

In our revamped Morison's they have a particularly impressive fruit/veg display which is constantly sprayed with a fine mist of chilled water - looks very exotic.

mintymellons · 27/02/2013 13:54

Sorry, I'm clearly not the first to mention the misty water spray thingy Blush

MyNameIsAnAnagram · 27/02/2013 13:57

Wilson, but does it also involve the Archers omnibus? A proper middle age Sunday would.

QueenofDreams · 27/02/2013 13:57

oh yes, I've commented before that you know you're a responsible adult when the sight of a lovely sunny day makes you think 'ooh excellent, I can do some laundry'
