Honestly am I the only one? He just doesn't get that you open them in the morning and close them in the evening. He would happily leave them open for days, probably even weeks, on end and not even notice.

I have come home on a sunny, early afternoon and he has the curtains closed but the light on so that he can see. Likewise I come in of a late evening and he has the curtains wide open but is sitting on the far end of the sofa in his dressing gown as he doesn't want people to see in.

I realise there is no point to my post but I just wanted to see if anyone else has the same?!

I just don't get how he doesn't realise, he is a very intelligent scientist nerd who reads physics books for pleasure he does have a brain!

OP I feel your pain.

Amandine, my dad used to do that too I think it was so he could have a lie-in without the neighbours knowing.

My DH is exactly the same, he is also a scientist, but doesn't make the connection between curtains and temperature control or security.

Ohmigod, my dad isn't the only oddball who does that? It's pure laziness though, he does it so that he doesn't have to go into the living room at all in the morning!

YANBU. My boyfrind will put the light on in the morning instead of opening the curtains.

Isn't mumsnet great for discovering that you are not the only person putting up with these little annoyances!

DH will only move a curtain if it is directly affecting him at that precise moment in time. So he will open one (and one only) kitchen curtain in the morning so he can look out at the garden while eating his breakfast. He will close the bedroom curtains if he goes for a little lie down during the day but not open them again when he gets up. If I didn't open the living room curtains they would never be opened and, as it is, I open them in the morning and someone inevitably closes them to stop the sun shining on the telly but doesn't open them again when they leave.

Argh! And, as for scatter cushions, well, they live on the floor unless someone wants one to put their feet on - I've given up!

Curtains are for keeping the heat in in my tenement flat!

Ha ha ha ha when i lived at home my mother would come in and open my curtains at 7:30am sharp otherwise "the neighbours will think we've had a death"

It has rubbed off on me as i roll straight out of bed and open the curtains much to dhs disgust

I like them shut properly at night with no gaps for light to sneak through and have a special hair clip which I use to do the job. Dp has finally got the hang of it. We both leave the ones open in the front room most of the time as neither of us are particularly bothered about anyone looking in.
