Aibu to turn up my music on the quiet carriage?

Cos it's bohemian rhapsody and the irritating yuppie couple opposote have talked on the quiet carriage for the last 50 minutes?

Fuck it, I'm doing it anyway. Might mime along too.

But how is talking to each other better than talking on a mobile if the quiet carriage is for people not to be disturbed?

I'd like a party carriage. Or a yoga carriage. Either would be preferable to the misery that is the quiet carriage.

Having been told off by a fellow passenger for talking in the quiet carriage I now avoid it.

Someone else's bad manners/bad behaviour shouldn't be an excuse for you to behave badly. You aren't going to affect only this couple, but anyone else using the quiet carriage too - now they are not only going to have to listen to a loud conversation (which may not be bothering them and isn't disallowed in the quiet carriage anyway) but they are also going to have to listen to your music too - and that is not allowed in the quiet carriage.

You know it is rude behaviour - so don't do it.

I know it's rude. I felt rude. And childish.

And it was pointless cos no one would have heard anything! just tested in a quiet office room and there's barely any noise (the laptop is louder and it's new so not a loud laptop) so actually in my ears and on a moving train, zilch!

What an amazing rebel I am.

If a carriage is a quiet carriage then I don't think you should talk because that's clearly not being quiet. I would like a lovely library style carriage. And if people want to rock out to Queen that's totally fine too if it's quiet - Maybe a sort of silent Harlem Shake thing.

I appreciate mobile phone conversations being banned in the quiet carriage as people on mobiles typically speak much louder then when having a conversation with someone sitting next to them. They seem to feel the need to broadcast their words of wisdom to the whole carriage.

Head phones are a bloody pain too - tcshhhh tcshsss ti tcshhhhh tcshhhh ti tcshhhh tcshhhh ad f infinitum.

SW trains need to up the ante on their posters - we have quiet carriages here as well (Aus) and they do mention loud chatter is not acceptable. Probably to keep the schoolkids out of them, as they can make a hideous din!

YWB a bit U but what the hell - and even if it didn't annoy them, at least you drowned out their chat!
