Needed a new kettle ASAP and husband came in a few hours later and surprised me with a new kettle which I thought was lovely. it's bloody bright blue and white, does not match the kitchen at all. Can't change it as it sounds like I'm being a controlling nutjob but every time I turn round it's there screaming out, taunting me with it's very hideousness! Please tell me IABU and to get a grip! usually he has quite good taste, a little chrome or even cream jobbie would have been most welcomed.

My husband is more fussy than me.

Kettle stopped working, got a £4.99 tesco value one which is still going strong 3 years later. I refused to buy a new one just because it doesn't match.

I wouldn't care as long as I had a kettle!
My lovely much used temperature setting kettle broke oct last year and I got myself a cheep tesco one to replace it as I just needed a kettle. My fab DH got an exact replacement of my much loved on for me for Christmas. (Yes I'm aware this makes me weird) Grin

We don't get to decorate as we rent and the everything in the kitchen apart from what we own is white and magnolia, so dull and cold. I had to get a nice bright red kettle and toaster cos if I'd got cream I wouldn't be able to find them Grin.

Maybe he'd not notice the replacement.

Did I not say it's bloody bright blue and white - how could he not notice! He might be aesthetically challenged but not blind!

another one who doesn't see the point of matching appliances to the kitchen Confused .

my mum's obsessed with matching stuff, though- she's done without a telly unit for about 18 months now as she can't get a chrome one with the exact matching "artic white" trim as the telly- bonkers, imo!

midastouch · 25/02/2013 22:51

Never let a man shop alone Grin Id take it back my OH is colour blind so thats his excuse! Im not too bothered about him thinking im a controlling nut job id rather have a matching kitchen! Smile

sorry, no, she doesn't want chrome, she wants "brushed steel" chrome doesn't go, it's too shiny Confused
