Right. I am 34 and an SAHM. I was thinking I need something in my life where I can make some new friends, do some charity stuff, have an excuse to go out etc. My DH works long hours so evening classes are out as they all start at 7pm round here. I am scared though. It's meant to be for younger women i.e. 18-45, but their website is somewhat mysterious. It all seems friendly etc but am I going to get there and find out its a churchy group? They are affiliated with the Round Table I think. Help me. DHis laughing at me saying it will be full of busy bodies. I don't think so.....

They are associated with the Round Table, which is not a churchy group. My dad joined the Round Table way back in the 70's and my mum joined the "wives group". Dad died suddenly in 1980 and the friends she'd made through the wives group continue to support her now.

I don't recognise Tangent as mentioned in the Wiki item, I think mum's group is the Inner Wheel? Anyway, that's obviously for Older Ladies! Grin

So, after all that waffle, why not give it a go? You might find you hate it, you might make friends for life.

The repeated references to "girls" aged 18-45 (on their website) grates a bit, though.

My parents were in Round Table/Ladies Circle back in the day. They had a fantastic social life on the back of it - I remember them dressing up to go out (very 70s) , days out at the seaside, cheese and wine parties (80s now Wink).

Mum is now in WI (too old for LC) and goes for the social side of it all. Give it a go - like many things, you won't know if you don't try Smile

Thanks all I am relieved to hear probably not churchy! I know the website definitely does grate and I think thats why I'm worried - are you going to get there and find some dreadful 'catch' like you have to believe in aliens or that women belong in the home or something...will risk it then!
