to resort to working in my car as baby won't sleep otherwise?

I'm currently studying for a degree and struggling to get my work done. Youngest DD is 8 months and I co-sleep but she wakes very soon if I get out of bed so working at night isn't happening. I take her and the dog for a walk at nap time and try to leave her asleep in Pushchair and park her in hallway while I work but it rarely lasts longer than 10 mins. However if she falls asleep in the car she stays asleep in there usually even after engine is off. She just won't sleep in the house unless on me so am considering just taking laptop in car and working there at nap time. Friend thinks I'm being ridiculous and need to leave her to cry indoors and she'll 'get over it.' However I only a couple of weeks work to do so I think the car option is a short term solution that keeps everyone happy. AIBU?

Whatever's best for you.

When you get home with the buggy have you tried popping her in the garden-if its secure?

I have done this and still do this with mine. Fresh air knocks my youngest out for a good 2-3 hours.

I do something similar with my very similar sounding 7mth ds!
I'm on maternity leave so have no work to do but when he's asleep in the car I park on the drive and either read or catch up on replying to texts etc.
It gives me a break and he sleeps! Everyone's a winner!

Have to agree when mine are asleep in the car I get a cheeky Starbucks and park up somewhere and do a bit of mn ing or Pinterest.

Occasionally Kfc drive through

Needs must and all thatWink

It is secure and could park her right outside patio doors so I could see her but it's so cold at the moment - seems mean that I sit inside in the warm while she's out in the cold!

Second whatever works for you.

But for comfort and more ease of working for you, perhaps a good sling might work? I used to strap DD into our ergo, go for a walk until she was asleep, then come home and work while she still slept in the sling. That and take a laptop to bed and work next to her at bedtime.

Ali-just try it honestly. It's a life saver! Wrap her up well and she'll be fine.

My DS will only nap in the car as well, we live in the arse end of nowhere so it's safe to leave him in there in front of the house, I just make sure he's wrapped up warm if its cold and put a snugly blanket over him.
Could you get her to sleep in your bed in the daytime for a nap then stay with her and get the laptop out once she's fast asleep?
Don't take too much notice of your friends you have to do what you can to get by, my friends that have always had 'good sleepers' don't understand the lengths I go to to get DS to sleep and to get some peace!!

Will try outside, thanks. Have got a good sling but she wakes if I sit down! At night she's firmly attached to my boobs for at very least the first hour and have tried working next to her but if (when) she wakes it takes another hour to get away...by which point I usually give up if she wakes again. Have also tried getting up early in the morning and she stays asleep a bit longer but not long enough to get much done.

whatever gets you though the day!
id do it tbh and the routine of sleeping at a certain time might well continue even out of the car later
