to stop washing

We have a water metre so to save money I've decided to stop showering and bathing. I saw on telly (This Morning) about a woman who stopped washing her hair and it started self-cleaning in 8 weeks.

If you are female, you'll end up cultivating a sootikin before you know it. Go on, google it. You know you want to...

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 24/02/2013 20:59

sheesh, dont come anywhere near me. I have a nose like a blood hound and I can smell a stinky person at 100 yards!

There is nothing worse than an unwashed person.

gardengate · 24/02/2013 21:01

Well I heard some women saying in a conversation about The Great Unwashed and I'm feeling a bit low so I thought I would save myself some money and cheer myself up at the same time.

If you live anywhere near York, can I recommend going to Jorvik so you can get an idea of what you will smell like after a while?

AgentZigzag · 24/02/2013 21:02

I've been toying with the idea of giving up my cups of tea - y'know, to save the pennies and the environment, with all that kettle boiling and associated polava - and drink gin instead.

I'm quite looking forward to my shreddies and gin tomorrow morning, it'll make the walk to nursery more eventful than's the norm.

Sirzy · 24/02/2013 21:04

I'm not sure how not cleaning would cheer you up? Actually I know for me it would have the opposite effect.

susiedaisy · 24/02/2013 21:06

My auntie tried this not washing her hair cause it will cleanse itself crap, when I picked her up to give her a lift I had to open the windows as her hair stank so bad!

Flojobunny · 24/02/2013 21:06

Well that'll be fun when u come on.
Eeew!

Foggles · 24/02/2013 21:09

You will need to wash your clothes much more often as they will absorb your stink.

That's not going to help with the water meter.

gardengate · 24/02/2013 21:10

Hey openerofjars I do live in York! Tang Hall to be precise.

NirvanaSmellsLikeTeenMother · 24/02/2013 21:58

I live in York too, dont come near me please if you decide not to wash.

gardengate · 24/02/2013 22:16

I don't really live in Tang Hall. That was a joke. Although Tang Hall is quite nice.

Oh my. I googled sootikin. I knew I shouldn't.

gardengate · 24/02/2013 22:23

What is it? It sounds like a name for a cat.

OP posts:
CommanderShepard · 24/02/2013 22:26

No poo isn't really about not washing though; it's more about not using shampoo/products containing sodium laureth sulphate.

8 weeks is a long time to be a bit whiffy in hopes your hair will self clean!

Flojobunny · 24/02/2013 22:29

Mouse shaped?

hiddenhome · 24/02/2013 22:35

I haven't washed for two years. I've been sacked from four jobs and have no friends, so I wouldn't recommend it tbh Confused

SirBoobAlot · 24/02/2013 22:35

I just googled sootikin. Never bloody learn...

gardengate · 24/02/2013 22:37

WHAT IS SOOTIKIN??

??

OP posts:
Flojobunny · 24/02/2013 22:48

It's mouse shaped soot.

MoonlightandRoses · 24/02/2013 22:48

Just for you OP.

(First time I've found a "never google" in Wikipedia too!) Grin

Flojobunny · 24/02/2013 22:50

Aww spoil sport!

susiedaisy · 24/02/2013 22:52

Yuk!
