I keep seeing them advertised at the top of my screen. The new wetness indicator Hmm surely you can see and smell if a nappy is wet. I bet they put the price up too for there ingenius idea!

well if you have to take the trews and vest off to see the indicator then you're already going to know if it's wet or not so it seems pretty pointless to me.

MammaTomato · 24/02/2013 01:52

Well, in all fairness, it did help when DS was a newborn and partially dehydrated, it saved us using the bit of cotton wool the midwife had suggested putting in his nappy.

Fanjango · 24/02/2013 02:01

Frankly if a Pampers nappy can tell if it's wet it would be a bonus...they always seemed to leak if they were any more than damp so this may help, you may not need to change just in case" as they may tell you first. The better option may have to actually made them lesss flippin leaky!!

BuntyCollocks · 24/02/2013 04:53

I love it. Brilliant when you've got a less than a day old baby who you're watching to make sure they've wet. Brillianr even now shes 8 weeks old so i can see how wet the nappy is and decide if its worth a change or not. Sometimes the smell/prod test is not enough! Believe its only on size 1's anyway, so most people wont be taking off trousers to check/change.

I wish they'd had it when I had DS as we had to watch him for dehydration. YABU.

BabyMakesTheBellyGoRound · 24/02/2013 07:42

You change them more often thanks to the indicator Hmm so you buy more nappies. When my older ones were small they did dribbles and then after a couple of hours they did a massive wee. If I was to change them after every dribble I would use a pack of nappies every couple of days. I used to stick my finger in their nappy to see if it was wet,but sometimes stuck my finger in pooConfused

Booyhoo · 24/02/2013 10:58
Grin

baby the trick is to look in first- no poo = finger check.

MurderOfGoths · 24/02/2013 11:01

Does seem a bit massive understatement of a ploy to get people to buy more nappies.

Glad we got free samples of Pampers when DS was born, they are ridiculously leaky.

BabyMakesTheBellyGoRound · 24/02/2013 11:26

I had leg wigglers so looking was more hazardous than a shitty finger Grin Wink

IsThatTrue · 24/02/2013 11:33

I keep laughing at the wetness indicators on ds's nappies. I've never had a problem telling if he (or my dc1+2) are in need of a bum change.

midastouch · 24/02/2013 12:31

I've never liked pampers nappies anyway they tend to leak which is always a good indicator that they need changing! I liked huggies but they're hard to find now

Midas, if you're anywhere near Oxford they have them in Boots in Headington.

I find Pampers a bit rubbish too - they aren't high rise enough for DD. In that regard Sainsbo's basics are best!

FreeButtonBee · 24/02/2013 12:47

God, I find it great! 2.5 wk twins here. If ut's a small wee, only a small bit of the strip changes colour so you can make a judgement call adtowhether to change but it is reassuring when they are v small and you're not sure if they have pissed or not and the midwives are mithering on about specific numbers of nappies per 24 hrs.

EstherRancid · 24/02/2013 12:51

not sure about the indicator, but they smell terrible!

anyone else find this?

Psammead · 24/02/2013 13:34

DDs had these in the hospital. I found them good for the first few days of their lives. After that, not so much.

Princesspond · 24/02/2013 13:44

I don't need wetness indicators, I just wait until the nappy is heavy and hanging around ds knees and then change ....

pumpkinsweetie · 24/02/2013 14:03

It's pointless pure & simply because Pampers leak. Always have done for years, in 2003 & previous years they were great branded nappies, but they are crap now & feel cheap.
I prefer Tesco's Active Fit & Asda's, cheaper & absorbent Smile

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 24/02/2013 14:26

Midas asda had huggies yesterday and you can get them on amazon.

Bogeyface · 24/02/2013 14:32

Pampers are crap. As Pumpkin said, they used to be great but now they are shit. The best nappies are Aldi ones, they have never leaked despite have an olympic standard wee-er and have never leaked poo either, even when she was ill.

I used Pampers with DC 1 and 2 in 1990 and 97 but gave up on them with DC2-5 and used Tesco own, as we didnt have an Aldi then!

Lottikins · 24/02/2013 21:56

MY KIDS ARE aged between and and I always used pampers on them s babiew because they were far and away the best nappies on the market in those days>really absorbent and I can@t remember having leaks at all

midastouch · 24/02/2013 22:13

princesspond that did make me laugh i do know someone who actually does that. and Estherrancid i havent noticed the smell i will have a sniff in the morning Grin (DS will think im mad)
