Hi, I'm supposed to be going to a very good friends 40th birthday tonight but both my ds are full of a cold/fever and now I have it and feel awful. My boys gran will look after them but its a 4 hour car journey to do on my own-I want to stay home, do you think I should?! Argh just don't know what to do!

Four hours there and four hours home again? I don't love anyone that much I'm afraid!

mameulah · 23/02/2013 10:11

Stay at home. Definitely stay at home.

missmash · 23/02/2013 10:14

4 hours there, stay in a hotel then 4 hours back to pick the boys up by 1pm!!

I still don't love anyone that much. Grin

This was my quandary last week. Got DC loaded up with antibiotics (after visit to ooh doc), made delicious dinner for them (guilt) and went off. I did my best but was soooo exhausted that I collapsed into bed before midnight (was staying the night) and woke up the next morning really sick. I ended up on antibiotics (first time in 15+ years as I NEVER get sick!!! or didn't...) and am only just begining to feel human again. I'd probably have been just as sick if I'd stayed home but I wouldn't have had to tackle that journey feeling rotten. IMO you should cry off and snuggle up on the sofa tonight.

Thanks u lot, defo feeling the need to get on the sofa, am thinking as well she has loads of people going to party so I will only get a few mins to chat. Just need permission to not go!! It's like when your mum used to say "Yes you can stay off school today, but you have to stay in bed and not watch tv"!!Grin

Stay at home!

If she's a good friend then she will understand and you can always meet up at a later date and do something nice to celebrate.

If you have a bug, she won't want you to bring it to the party anyway. Phone and tell her you're sorry - bunch of flowers maybe? Take the kids to GPs and get some rest Brew

KnittedCharacter · 23/02/2013 11:02

i have a cold at the moment and i certainly would be wanting to stay at home. give her a call to let her know so she can hear how ill u sound

ChristmasJubilee · 23/02/2013 11:03

Stay home - for your sake and everyone else's. if you feel better later you could get a takeaway and a wee glass of wine with the money you save on the fuel!

thenightsky · 23/02/2013 11:05

Definitely stay at home. Driving four hours feeling like shite is a non-starter.

NotSoNervous · 23/02/2013 11:05

Stay home on the sofa with a hot water bottle, hot chocolate and a movie

missmash · 23/02/2013 12:43

Ok, boys at grandmas, friend called and totally cool, got tissues, hot water bottle and duvet on the settee. Still feel flaky but will make it up to her. Thanks for helping me make up my mind Wink
