Oh come on,you can't ask a question like that with out saying why you need to know.

IneedAsockamnesty · 22/02/2013 00:59

www.howto.co.uk/abroad/spanish-law/birth_marriage_divorce_and_death/#death

But according to the brief info here it appears not unless the circumstances are odd

monsterchild · 22/02/2013 01:02

I don't know why there would be an autopsy unless circumstances were suspicious or family requested one.

wakeupandsmellthecoffee · 22/02/2013 01:02

So sorry for your loss. Was she already unwell or was it unexpected? If the former and had recently seen a doctor then I doubt there would need to be a post mortem. Was she on holiday or did she live out there?

squeakytoy · 22/02/2013 01:05

Apologies for the cross post as you answered my questions there in your last post.

You could contact the spanish embassy maybe, and they could speak to the doctor for more information I would think.

kittyandthegoldenfontanelles · 22/02/2013 01:08

wakeup I am so very sorry to hear about the death of your mum. I believe you are asking whether they would do an autopsy as she was not under the care of a doctor at the time of her death and this is what would happen in the UK. I'm afraid I don't know about Spain. I just wanted to pass on my condolences. Thanks

kittyandthegoldenfontanelles · 22/02/2013 01:10

Sorry, I see she was under the doctor. Perhaps contact the British embassy? Good luck.

wakeupandsmellthecoffee · 22/02/2013 01:16

xigris · 22/02/2013 08:27

Sorry - I don't have anything helpful to add, just wanted to send my condolences and a big Thanks. All the very best with sorting everything out.

IneedAsockamnesty · 22/02/2013 12:45

I just phoned a Spanish friend of mine (she's a undertaker) and no they don't, undertakers act as kinda coordinators over there and pretty much deal with most things so if you can be hold of one they will point you in the right direction.

I'm sorry for your loss xx
