While we're on the subject, does anyone know why documents do this for me? Half the apostrophes are straight and half are curved. It irritates me. It seems to happen when I cut and paste a passage of text.

Oh yes! Angry "Open Saturday's" is another. People make lots of money and cannot string together an intelligible sentence .... Of course, I am an embittered, jealous pedant EnvyGrin

No no no NO!

I'll be constantly thinking you are not the real diddl without the accent apostrophes!

EmpressMaud · 20/02/2013 13:09

Yanbu.

diddl · 20/02/2013 13:13

Oh I can happily go back to them-Amazing-it´s much easier!

YANBU at all at all at all! I accept that "should've" etc can often be misheard as "should of" but surely the speaker/writer/hearer understands that "should of" just doesn't make sense. It doesn't mean anything and that's regardless of education because it doesn't mean anything to anyone, anywhere at any time. Not that I've thought about this before, of course Hmm
