AIBU to be annoyed at new neighbour permanently parking his car outside my house when he has a 5 car driveway of his own?

we live I a small cul de sac and neighbours next door recently separated . he has obviously to a lodger now . Ever since the lodger moved in the turning area which is right in front of our house has had this guys ( the lodger ) car parked there. it's not my parking spot but tbh it's really annoying me now because he has obviously been told not to park on the huge drive of the house he is now living in. Dveryone including us use this turning area at various times in the week. Sometimes just until oh gets in to save moving cars and sometimes when fiends call or dc get dropped off. It's now permanently got his car there day and night. I thought maybe its because the owner is a policeman and on shifts but then thought actually m a midwife on shifts and often have to be on call overnight . We do like most people and I just move the cars around .
There are no yellow lines . It's not obstructing our access . ts just irritating when his drive is mostly empty and bigger than any in the road . grrrr

Take a large shit on his bonnet. It won't actually improve the situation, but it will make you feel better and entertain us no end Grin

I take it you've had a friendly and polite word with your neighbour?

If you haven't, it's probably time you did.

It might not mean they're willing to do anything about it, but equally it might mean they do...and that they weren't aware it was causing you a problem.

WorraLiberty · 19/02/2013 00:05

And if all else fails...go with Poms idea Grin

YellowDinosaur · 19/02/2013 00:34

This would piss me off too. But you know yabu, it's a public road and he can park wherever he likes. Unfortunately in this situation.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 19/02/2013 00:34

I'm grinning at your very narrow field of vision wrt shift workers.

The car conundrum, however, I can see why it bothers you, but I recommend you become Zen about it and ignore the BadBadPom. Faeces never solved nuffin.

Have you asked the lodger why he doesn't park in the driveway? I'd ask nicely "How come you don't park in the driveway? It's huge and your car is parked in the way for everyone turning around"

ChairmanWow · 19/02/2013 07:27

Public highway, no obstruction. Sorry but I don't really see what your problem is.

HDee · 19/02/2013 07:30

YABU. it's a public road, it's not causing anyone a problem.

maddening · 19/02/2013 07:43

Is it designed to be the turning area?

Flossiechops · 19/02/2013 07:51

Neighbours can be a right pain in the ass. Unfortunately though you haven't a leg to stand on. It's about considering others and obviously these neighbours don't really care too much. I completely sympathise with you though we have 150ft long driveways and my neighbour is obviously a mechanic who runs his business from his drive. Not only is his drive full of cars but he has around 10 lined up the road, it makes reversing off our drive tricky but I guess he doesn't give a shit!

GrowSomeCress · 19/02/2013 07:54

A 5 car driveway... why in god's name would anyone need one of those in the first place Shock

HollyBerryBush · 19/02/2013 07:54

Reading back on the Op - it is a turning area, but her friends park there when they visit!

Well so long as there aren't parking restrictions, and the car is taxed and insured, not really a lot you can do about him legally parking anywhere.

ComposHat · 19/02/2013 08:12

As others have said, public highway and presuming the car is taxed and insured YABU.

Double YABU as you and visitors to your house have parked there too.
