To feel uncomfortable about my mum disciplining my DC

Before we start I've not long had another baby so be gentle with the flames Wink

My mum popped by earlier and she is now starting to tell my 3DS(just 2) off for trivial things - which I don't have a problem with but when I'm in the same room, then surely it should be down to me. For example, DS is having a bit of trouble with his molars coming through and is chewing a lot of things. He was sat casually chewing on a Thomas engine - I was about to ask him to take it out of his mouth when my mum said "stop putting things in your mouth - I've told you plenty of times"

I know that sounds like nothing now I've written it down but it's happening all the time and it's starting to piss me off. I'm BU aren't I?!

YANBU, firstly because you were in the room, but also because of her wording. "I've told you plenty of times"? For a two year old? That wouldn't be on with me.

And teething children need cuddles, not bollocking for trying to relieve the pain.

Ohh I see, I was thinking the big plastic ones aimed at under 3's.

YANBU I love my mum, and we have similar ideas on discipline, but if I'm there it's for me to do. She would never step in. If I wasn't I'd happily trust her to do the job even though dc are fecking angels for granny anyway

My sils' kids are disciplined by mil, FIL occasionally sis in law and on one horrific, notable and very serious occasion, me. The kids are extremely naughty & don't seem to get who is in charge.

Also, he was hardly committing a heinous crime was he?!

Yanbu, but only because chewing a toy is not something that I would reprimand Ds about myself so I sure as hell wouldn't allow anyone else to!

Saying that, DM and I are pretty much on the same page ( Although I am the stricter one)so I would have no problem with her stepping in on other matters.
