to pay someone cash in hand to look after my 1 year old for a couple of hrs

I'm paying a fortune for nursery....have to pay a full day even though I only need it until 3. I work from home so was thinking of just looking for a mothers help or something to come to our home and basically play with Ds for a couple of hrs so I can work. I have school aged kids so usually work after they've all gone to bed so I can catch up.

I was thinking 3 days a week 9-12 for £50 a week. Can anyone see any flaws in this? I'll be working in the next room......

We use a babysitter as I work odd hours and different hours every week.

I have two DC (2&4).

We pay £7 an hour cash.

We're both happy with it.

The flaw I can see is actually finding someone to work for you for 3 hours a day for £50 per week.

have you got a spare room?if so,have you considered an au pair?part time you can pay from 50 pound a week.

There was a similar thread last week with a useful link (and lots of waffling too, but ignore that). I'll see if I can find it.

Depending on where you are cm fees are around 3.50/4 per hour.

That's nw though.

You are right you are right on the tax. In my defence I am not very well - I really ought to have known that (in fact I did) so OP my sincere apologies for jumping down your throat. Anything entitled cash in hand has a habit of making me see red. But if it's any consolation, now I feel like a rude, ignorant twat as well ill.

I do think my point about NMW and living wage stand, but I recognise I don't really have any right keep banging on now.

Find a CM. If your child can go suring school hours they will only charge you for that, freeing up space before & after school paces for school children.
