To wonder when all this started?

Valentines presents. I've been with DH for 11 years. We got together as a result of me sending him a valentine card. It therefore is relatively important to us. We mark it. Nice meal, flowers, chocs, some wine.

This yer I bought him his favourite, 'special' chocolates, he bought me my favourite 'special' wine. We each got a card.

All day I've been seeing fb posts about people getting iPads, phones, shoes & my own fb got a fucking shitload lot of clothes, mug etc (& a nice handmade photo album) from his new god. Even my DF bought DM a cd as well a flowers, chocs & wine.

When did this happen? When did a full on present become th order of the day? I know it doesn't affect me, but aibu to think its a bit...weird?

He told you he couldn't be bothered after you'd given him your gift?

I hope you took it straight back off him and said ok, I'll get a refund for this then.

If gifts are what you normally do, then to change that without saying so, while knowing he was getting something from you, that's really arsish of him, you know.

My favourite Valentines this year are the two my son made me, one at preschool, one at after school care.

Husband and I always only exchange cards.

Yanbu! I do like to get a card but don't mind if its home made. This year DP got me a laptop on his company credit card, I was like wtf? I do need one and am obviously thankful for it, it just struck me as a bit weird can't pu my finger on the reason why.....

Because it's on his company credit card does that mean his company paid for it?
