To wonder why people post on 100+ post threads having read nothing more than the OP

As it says really. I've noticed a lot that people pop in with a comment on a thread based purely on the OP, without bothering to read the rest of the thread. Obviously people don't always have time to read everything but does it not occur to them to think the other 100 plus posts have been about something, so the subject might have moved on?

Often on a thread, the OP isn't the crux of the thread anymore.

OP posts:

Drives me nuts!

HairyHandedTrucker · 14/02/2013 16:17

Because I haven't got hours to while away on a 800 post thread because it looks like an interesting OP, (in fact if it weren't an interesting OP it would have never gotten so long in the first place. If it is not helpful to the Op just disregard it why do you actually care?

And I am not going to only peruse boring ops because they happen to be short.

Where can I buy a Bugaboo?

anywhere

What can I do in Peterborough with a 4 year old

no idea, don't give a fuck

HairyHandedTrucker · 14/02/2013 16:19

also if ops would avoid drip feeding it wouldn't be an issue and you wouldn't need any further info anyway.

as for this, so because a bunch of people have started or formed a new quiche, why does that mean other can not still answer the OP, that's what it is for.

nickelbabe · 14/02/2013 16:28

on long thread I'll read the op's posts (i have them highlighted in olive, but it looks more like a green/brown)

sometimes I won't.

It depends how long the thread is.
if it's 100, I might not read it all, but I'll definitely read the op's posts if it's about 200.

but if it's not very long, i'll post, then read the thread.
and then post another 5 or 6 messages with my updated opinions having read the thread.

donder I'd be intransigent over a Hungry Caterpillar-themed party. Some beliefs are too important to compromise over.

Hullygully · 14/02/2013 16:38

I do that sometimes

because I want to

and I can

so ner

usualsuspect · 14/02/2013 16:40

I try and skim read the thread, but sometimes I just reply to the OP.
