My "DP" has spent the past week or so teeling me what a briliant suprise he's got me for valetines day and how happy im going to be with it.
He called me this morning all excited asking if it was here yet, it wasn't.

Well it just arrived and it's....a fucking Hoover!
My immediate feeling is to rip his bollox off but he seemed so pleased with himself.
So AIBU and ungreatful cow or is he?

Definately exchange it for a hoover-robot.

Monstermashpotato · 14/02/2013 19:54

I got driving lessons and a theory test book...I was surprised Grin

zipzap · 14/02/2013 20:36

Has he kept the receipt? Can you exchange it?

I would be upset but mOstly because for big purchases like that I'd want to choose them myself or at least in concunction with dh so that it had the features I wanted and was the right size for me.

And yes - implication the Hoover was mine rather than ours and the knock on implications that I am responsible for the cleaning. Time for a big chat!!

If you can't return it then I'd say that you can't possibly use it, it's all wrong for you and that he'd better be doing all the hoovering while you sit back and drink the champers/eat the chocs/etc that you bought for him but were obviously the wrong sort of valentines present for him having seen his present! :o

Corygal · 14/02/2013 20:43

Rush out NOW and buy yourself a massive bunch of roses on said credit card.

Then ring him tearfully to say you knew the hoover was a joke all along, you love his humour.

Mia4 · 14/02/2013 20:48

I'd turn it around on him tbh, say "Oh wow this is awesome, you're planning on taking over the hoovering??? That's great baby, I was happy with our old hoover but if you need one of your own-go for it!"

And get him a cock ring next year, 'for him'.

Shock piprabbit!

MrsKwazii · 14/02/2013 21:24

"Appliances are house necessities, they do not make appropriate gifts." Make him write that out one hundred times and then get him to Hoover the stairs.

MrsKwazii · 14/02/2013 21:27

I had a Phillips iron from MN to test once. The delivery driver asked if I'd "treated myself". I told him in no uncertain terms that if I had treated myself, it certainly wouldn't have been to a new bloody iron.

I love the iron btw MNHQ! As does MrK Wink

StuntGirl · 14/02/2013 21:43

Pipparabbit :( Are you ok?

YesIamYourSisterInLaw · 14/02/2013 22:09

I was actually reading this thinking I'd love a dyson valentines day or not and then I read your update and uh no that's not good is it.
I do love KFC but if it was for valentines I think he'd be getting the chicken shoved up his arse

piprabbit · 15/02/2013 13:23

I'm fine - thanks for asking. Not sure what he thinks is going to happen next. But he was very lovely last night, so who knows.
