WIBU to go round with cake?

To my neighbour? They've twice cleared all the snow from my drive and pathways, just because. They're just really nice and friendly we're generally quite neighborly with eachother but thought I might pop something round to say thanks. But don't want to be weird and random.

I will accept cake from anybody, for any reason, so no, I certainly wouldn't think you were being weird! I sometimes take birthday cake round to my neighbours. And no, I don't live on Wisteria Lane.

Lovely idea, go for it.

DewDr0p · 13/02/2013 22:04

Really lovely idea.

Reward nice neighbours, they'll stay nice.

A bunch of dafs and a cake (homemade, slightly imperfect) would go down well with me... (but I'm not that nice, though I do take the neighbours' bins down the lane).

Our last neighbours were a bit TOO nice. We arrived home from holiday to find they'd weeded the veg patch and taken our 'discreet' stockpile to the tip, mowed the lawn, and pruned the tomato plants... we couldn't be arsed to compete with that!!

floweryblue · 13/02/2013 22:04

What's weird and random about thanking someone who has done you a favour?! Do it as long as your cakes are nice

Schooldidi · 13/02/2013 22:05

I think it's lovely. I gave my neighbour a six-pack of beer when he cleared our guttering for us just because he was doing his own. Then I made them a blanket for their baby.

Our neighbours on the other side regularly hand over tomatoes when they're in season because they've grown too many.

Leeds2 · 13/02/2013 22:06

Lovely idea!

bigbadbarry · 13/02/2013 22:07

Cake is never U

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/02/2013 22:07

I live in one of those places with wine and cake exchanges regularly. I know all my neighbours. People across the road are moving though. I hope your neighbours move in Grin

sparklyjumper · 13/02/2013 22:12

Right that's decided then! They are lovely and we do eachother favours I was grateful for the snow clearing though and haven't seen them to say thanks. I can't bake but will buy a nice little cake.

I would do that too, it's lovely to have good neighbours

maddening · 13/02/2013 22:27

as long as there are no toe nails or bodily parts do it :)

MonkeySea · 13/02/2013 22:30

Muffin basket.

crazy8 · 13/02/2013 22:35

I love my neighbours. We all get on without being in each others pockets. Regularly have meals out and a glass of tea/coffee/wine (depending on the time of day) when you pop into see someone is obligatory. I make cakes all the time for my neighbours as they are always doing nice things for me.

maddening · 13/02/2013 22:46

have you got a particular cake in mind

sparklyjumper · 13/02/2013 23:06

My preference is lemon drizzle or carrot cake, but they're not everyone's cup of tea so though maybe choc or Victoria sponge, or muffins?

MikeOxardAndWellard · 13/02/2013 23:30

Ooh everyone loves a victoria sponge, great idea op. Cake is definitely not U.
