I had a few mini eggs yesterday and was disgusted, tasted of sugar. Will buy green and blacks or m&s eggs this year, will stear well clear of Cadbury's now.

yes it's bloody horrible now.

will have a go with lidl. but it is a real shame. i used to especially like giant chocolate buttons.

Vodkapleasenurse · 18/02/2013 21:03

YANBU at all.
I am so glad I found this thread I thought I was hallucinating. Grrr stop messing with out stuff Kraft!
Confused

diddl · 18/02/2013 21:17

"Schogetten is only one of the Lidl chocolates."

They sell it, but don´t make it-trumpf do!

DigestivesWithCheese · 18/02/2013 21:34

I agree! This has been bothering me for some time. Roses are so disgusting now that it explains why they are always on special offer. All the chocolate having rounded edges doesn't help - it gives it a slippery, slimy sort of texture.

Toblerones have also gone downhill (I think they are made by Kraft - not sure if that was always the case). The chocolate just tastes cheap and synthetic, not really like chocolate at all.

It's helped me to cut down though at least! I used to be a complete chocoholic but now I don't eat it very often. Lindt is still nice though, it has a nice crunchy texture.

FlatsInDagenham · 18/02/2013 21:57

Thought it was just me. DH bought me a cadbury caramel last night and it was such a disappointment. Not just the chocolate (which has definitely lost it's cadbury loveliness) but what the hell have they done with the caramel filling? It tasted more like burnt syrup than the old style soft velvetty creamy toffee it used to be.

Buggers.

Darkesteyes · 18/02/2013 22:07

Yep. Quality Street is def better than Roses now.

Darkesteyes · 18/02/2013 22:09

We have a local Lidls Is their choc quite nice then? What varieties do they do?

Changebagsandgladrags · 18/02/2013 22:25

Irish Cadburys is the way to go. Caramello is lovely.

McGilly · 19/02/2013 03:04

catsmother - Most Australian Cadburys is manufactured in Tasmania or Victoria and while the shape has changed for Dairy Milk, taste is still mostly OK though that depends on freshness.
Cherry Ripes have been selling a 'limited edition' bar double- dipped in 45% dark chocolate. They are incredible.

ripsishere · 19/02/2013 03:09

Our Cadburys is made in Aus (I think) could be NZ.
It has a waxy texture that is unpleasant. I seldom eat chocolate, but DH and DD are experts and agree.
The Crunchies are much bigger though and, since the layer of chocolate to hokey pokey honeycomb is minuscule. It doesn't matter.

ripsishere · 19/02/2013 03:09

ratio. Choc to hokey pokey honeycomb.

icepole · 19/02/2013 23:02

Yes the bonus is I am no longer addicted to dairy milk!

Sizzlesthedog · 20/02/2013 13:32

Interesting reply from Cadburys to the email I sent.

Saying that products "develop" over the years and through marketing research they find that people prefer them

It was a very cleverly worded response, not denying the recipe had changed, but not admitting to it either!

I could read between the lines!

Oblomov · 20/02/2013 13:54

I too can not eat cadburys anymore. It tastes vile. Too sweet, too chemically, too everything.
I used to like cadbury nut.I do like nuts with chocolate. Struggling to find one I like.
And I do like mint. Being forced to eat mint areo and mint bubbly at the moment. Struggling to find a mint one I like aswell.

The only chocolate I seem to be able to eat at the moement is Lindt creamy lindt But that is not the cheapest.
Might try the lidl ones recommended here.
Am still in search of nut and mint ones...........

wildfig · 20/02/2013 14:32

Through marketing research, you say?

"Do you like this chocolate?"
"Not really."
"Do you like this chocolate?"
"Um, no, not really - it's got bits of Ritz cracker in it."
"Do you like this chocolate?"
"No, I told you, it's got bits of Ritz cracker in it and it tastes like the back of your throat when you've had a bad headcold for four days."
"Do you like this chocolate?"
"If I say I like this chocolate will you let me out of this customer research panel? I've been here for eleven hours."
"Do you like this chocolate?"
"Yes."
"That's great. You can go now."

"Customers in taste test overwhelmingly preferred new Dairy Milk Ritz Cracker to old Dairy Milk across the board."

PessaryPam · 20/02/2013 16:40

My favourite chocolate used to be the little praline filled Suchard eggs, but I have been unable to find these for sale for years now. So sad as they were gorgeous. Used to really like Cadburys Fruit & Nut too but since Kraft took over the whole Cadburys range tastes completely different. I think it appeals to the US market as they like Hershey bars and I had one once and it was beyond vile in a similar way to Cadburys hass become now.

Sizzlesthedog · 20/02/2013 17:07

wildfig Grin

PessaryPam · 20/02/2013 17:14

Yes that was good and probably true wildfig.

Darkesteyes · 20/02/2013 17:16

Lindt is nice but expensive.

Also i havent had it for a while but the Green and Blacks Creamy Milk is nice.

BeechAvenue · 20/02/2013 17:30

Grin wildfig

Alternatively:=

"Do you like this?"
"Oh yes, I love that stuff!"
"Eeeexxcellent."

FellatioNels0n · 20/02/2013 17:31

Yes! It's got more sweet hasn't it? I wondered if it was just me and my tastebuds becoming less inclined towards sweet things, but I really do think it has changed. Sad

FellatioNels0n · 20/02/2013 17:34

Lindt chocolate is the best. Especially those big smooth balls that melt in your mouth and have a lovely smooth ganache in the centre.

Sizzlesthedog · 20/02/2013 18:04

Why am I getting adverts for Cadburys egg and spoon thing when I look at this thread? Are we being watched by Them?!

If so, give me the old yummy Dairy Milk back Grin
