To dislike watching movies in 3D?

Why is it, that when I go to the cinema, most of the showings for films that I want to see, particularly with the dc, are in 3D?

I don't like wearing the glasses.
After about five minutes the 3D makes me feel dizzy and sick, and sometimes it gives me a visual migraine.
I think that obsession with special effects means that movies often now have a weaker story line.

Give me a normal 2D movie any time. So am I just an old gimmer that doesn't want to keep up with new technology, or is 3D a gimmicky fad, that will hopefully be restricted to a few imax films in the future?

I'm not a fan either. I don't want to sit there with glasses on watching tv/ cinema.My ds won't keep the glasses on so its just bad for him. Hence 2d every time for us.

I am thankful that my town has a little independent cinema that doesn't have 3D facilities, odeon have lost me as a customer because of their scarcity of 2D showings of certain films.

The eyes themselves are not built to focus on two things at once. Because of that, and 3D's tendency to go in and out of focus as objects jump forward and backward on the screen, the viewer's eyes are forced to readjust constantly throughout the movie.

Took ds to see Wreck-it Ralph in 3D on Saturday. £20 for the tickets - for one adult and one child!!! There was absolutely no need at all to watch it in 3D and I asked myself afterwards why I didn't just see a 2D version. It is a mahoosive rip-off and I totally agree that story is often sacrificed for an 'ooh, look, we poked something out of the screen at you' moment, especially in kids films. Bravo, film makers, bravo.

It's a massive pain in the neck. There were no 2D showings of Life of Pi round here, except for random weekday matinees. I don't see the point of 3D and I don't like the glasses.

I have no peripheral vision in my left eye so anything 3D makes me feel completely nauseous. Luckily, there is nothing in the cinema I want to see. But, no OP, YANBU.

YANBU. I'm another one who feels sick after more than 10 mins of 3d. I too am looking for 2d showings of wreck it Ralph.

Yes! Stupid move, as it will make the movie even more boring in 2D/on DVD/on TV.

DH and I both get sick and dizzy from it. We both get migraines as well so I'm not sure if thathas anything to do with it. Twice we have come away from the cinema with DS as there has only been 3D showings.

I hate it too so yanbu. I went to watch Avatar with a friend in 3D and forgot to wear my contacts. I had to sit there for 3 hours watching a shit film with 3D glasses over my normal glasses. By the end my nose was about to drop off. I always make sure I book 2D versions of films now.

I'm not a fan either, although Life of Pi in 3D was beautiful.
