My dd projectile vomited everywhere on Friday night , and has a high temp since then, today she has managed a few teaspoons of soup, she has not been sick, and managed to keep boiled water once cooled, down.

She just sleeps , I am keeping her of school tomorrow but unsure when I should send her back to school, any advice would be great, thanks.

when she is well

Wait until she's back to her normal self.

You will know when she's ready to go back.

Well they sat 48 hours after last vomiting or having diarrhoea, but obviously if she fits this criteria but if she is still listless and not eating then keep her off.

sonotpretty · 10/02/2013 20:36

Thank you everyone ,Im just going to see how she goes tomorrow and go from there.

I'd see when she's feeling better, and then speak to the school as well - DS' school has a policy of no sooner than 48 hours after the last incident of D&V, but my CM is happy to take him after 24 hours and her DDs' school has a 24 hour policy.

SilverClementine · 10/02/2013 20:52

Speaking as a health professional who deals with D&V outbreaks, you're right to keep her off until AT LEAST 48 hours after she last vomitted or had diarrhoea.

Bertie that is very irresponsible of your CM and school, they are putting other people, including your DC at risk if others are ill. If I was involved on dealing with an outbreak at their premises I would be having VERY stern words, maybe contactinf OFSTEAD if they didn't listen to reason.

We've had a bad bug around the school over the past few weeks, high temps and lethargy - but not many other symptoms (maybe slightly snotty and cough, but not badly).

Adult who've had it have been absolutely wiped for 2-3 days, unable to do anything. Kids have often have 5 days off just laying on couch exhausted.

Hope she wakes up feeling brighter tomorrow.

Isn't it half term? It is for us!

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 10/02/2013 21:33

GrowsomeCress gave her normal water and she kept being sick still, then my Nan suggested boiled water cooled, and she has kept it down since.
