To think this was a question that could wait until morning?

So there I was fast asleep, having a lovely dream when I get woken up by my DS(3) shouting for me, so I go into his room

Me 'Yes DS, what's the matter?'
DS 'mummy, would you rather be a bird or a parrot?'

Now as lovely as he is I really think that this could have waited til morning! We have has similar questions recently in the middle of the night but my brain is too tired to remember them.

So now I'm wide awake and bored but at least I can now catch up on the MIL snooping thread. BTW if anyone cares I said 'a parrot'!

Please tell me we're not the only ones who get woken up for this?

You're the only one who gets woken up for this! :)
I get woken up for bad dreams or wee one wanting boob.
What was the good dream?

annoying isn't it. just been woken by my ds age 2, to check what we are doing tomorrow. He just seemed mildly curious about our plans and is now fast asleep again. I am wide awake and a bit furious. He said sorry and gave me a hug so I can't even be cross with him.

I can't exactly remember what the dream was, I think we were at some sort of celebration before my peace was rudely shattered!

Sometimes we get woken up and go in there just to be asked to 'come back in a minute!' Grrr, just as we'll he's quite cute :)

If it makes you feel any better dd(2.4) is currently wide awake and has been for ages because she wants to 'go be Tig right now' (as in woolly and tig) she is refusing to go back to sleep and has woken her brother who has an ear infection.

Bee yes I didn't want to get into that whole conversation that a parrot is a bird, so I just answered 'parrot because its colourful'...

You see that's where you're wise - I'd have stupidly pointed it out and then been subjected to a tirade of why I was wrong.

I've just remembered that ds (now 6) woke me once to ask 'mummy can giraffes sit down?'

YABVU your job as a mohr necessitates 24 hour parenting. Your angel needs to be nurtured & developed at all times. You can't simy switch this off in spectating of an uninterrupted night. The chemical compounds in their brains are so delicate that by so much as quietly resenting this beautiful I interaction, your DS willl, in future, require many years of intense counselling.

You are EXTREMELY self centred!!!!!!!

Up with 2.3yo DS.

So tired as he was up periodically through the night too. DH was up with him, but can't seem to settle him so I got woken too. So much for a quiet night.

And now DH is pulling the martyred "I was up with him" routine. And DS is so tired he's fake crying.

I can't cope with this!

JK you're a saint! Dd is 3 & would've got short shrift. Sadly I too am an uncontrollable pedant & would've pointed out the parrot's true genus.

Still it would be preferable to the time when, newly potty trained, the novelty urge hit in the middle of the night & she took herself of to the bathroom to wee, which I WAS proud of. Sadly with no light on, she misjudged & weed in her dolly bath instead of her potty, thus changing drastically the angle required to successfully tip it down the loo (again v proud, she was only 2.4). She slipped over in it, giggled then clattered around in the dark trying to clear it up, with ONE sheet of toilet tissue.

Hope you get some more sleep.

I'm awake because of a debilitating hacking bronchitis cough. I'm on the sofa to set a good example of cough behaviour so next time DH has one he fucks off & let's me sleep to be kind to DH.

I'm contemplating waking up DD (3) & DS (10 months) as pay back. Then letting DH look after them as I don't know what woke them & I'm way too ill. Thought I'd go in and ask DD which her favourite Octonauts was, or why the Archbishop thought Eliza, the swan princess was a witch, or are nectarines peaches that somebody 'razed' (with a razor), or do elephants get bogeys. (All happened to me, luckily around 6am).

Dp just woke me up to Tell me he had a dream about a cat with white paws called.Molly and it got saved from a fire!!!!!!!

DS was sobbing the other night, so I went it, gave him a cuddle and he wailed;

"Mummy my cake has blue icing on it, AND NOT PINK!"

Honestly, took him ten minutes to calm down fully...
