to get my Primark boots re-healed?

Very comfy 2 inch healed brown boots. Go with lots of things, look nice but very practical too.

Had them since September, very good condition still but heal has worn right down. I do this with all my heals, I seem to throw my foot out, my Mum used to go mad at me for ruining all my school shoes they would be slanted at heal badly!

Boots got hole in heal, which let stones in, then hole got bigger and they were really unwearable!

I took them in to a shop and asked them to fix them, which they did for £14, which I think is £1 less than what the boots cost! I had mentioned to a few people i was looking forwards to getting them back, and have been met with a lot of Hmm "but they are only primark, bin them and buy more" type responses! Why would I bin perfectly good boots? The rehealing has probably made them stronger than the heals on a brand new pair anyway!

'heeling' not healing though would be nice if boots did heal themselves. Wink sorry

of course you should get them done if you want to, better than just binning, hate the way clothing is so disposable for some these days

I would reheel shoes if I loved them no matter what the price.

I've had a strap on a primark bag fixed as I liked the bag so much. Also spent £9 having a new clasp put on a £6 topshop necklace. Best £9 I ever spent as I love that necklace.

I did this with a pair of Asda black leather boots because they fitted my enormous calves I paid £15 to get them heeled and soled and the boots were only £18 to start with but I bought them for £9 in the sale.

earlierintheweek · 09/02/2013 09:11

Blush obviously at £9 they weren't leather but they looked like leather

giraffesCantEatNHSPotatoes · 09/02/2013 09:12

oops!

Yes heeling! Although magic healing boots would be good! Grin

I've had Primark boots reheeled before - boots only cost £20 and fixing heels around £8 but the boots were just what I wanted at the time, & went on to last about another year (cobbler said they often skimp on heels on cheap boots).

PessimisticMissPiggy · 09/02/2013 09:17

Do it. The throw away culture we've got in really upsets me.

I look after all my shoes (polish, regular heeling etc.) and clothes and mend them if they break. I can afford not to and it drives my DH potty that I spend time doing this.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 09/02/2013 09:17

I've had a pair of cheap boots re- heeled three times. I've spent far more on that than they initially cost - but I love them, they're comfortable.

I've tried looking for new boots, but can't find any that are right, at the right price - and I'll only wear through those as well. I always do. Stupid heavy walking. Grin

The only thing I don't like is that they don't make a "clip clop" noise anymore! Girls called them my coconut boots!

Grin Giraffes that reminds me of when I get my flip flops on. The noise of them makes me think of summer.

TheBigJessie · 09/02/2013 09:41

Re-heel them. Hunting round shops looking for some boots would take time. Isn't your time worth money?

Skinnywhippet · 09/02/2013 20:04

I get my shoes reheeled at the market. Cheaper than anywhere else. £14 is steeper than I would usually pay to get my boots reheeled.

Flisspaps · 09/02/2013 20:07

£9 getting a clasp put on a necklace?! Shock

GailTheGoldfish · 09/02/2013 20:16

My friend really struggles with shoes and Primark is the only place that she can find comfortable shoes in her size so she regularly gets them reheeled. Fortunately the top bits seen to last longer than the bottoms!

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 09/02/2013 20:20

I would if I liked the boots. I once paid £15 for a new zip in my favourite denim bag, and the bag itself only cost me £3 in the sale in Primark Grin
I'd rather have that bag than a new one though, so it was worth it to me to salvage it.

Wewereherefirst · 09/02/2013 20:23

I got my cheapy Next boots resoled and reheeled for £20. They're so comfortable and I think of it as an investment Smile

HildaOgden · 09/02/2013 20:39

Just as an aside,if you keep wearing heels out in the same spot, your instep might be the cause.Do you find you get back ache at all?I was always wearing shoes out on one side of the heels until I realised I needed instep insoles.

FionaJT · 09/02/2013 20:41

It's so hard to get boots that you really love, once you've got them you need to keep them going as long as possible!

manorandshua · 09/02/2013 22:51

The first thing I do when buying a new pair of shoes I get them re-heeled and re-soled before I start wearing them. My shoes last forever as the original sole and heel always remain intact. It was one of the best advice I was given years ago and as a result now I have a nice collection of shoes.

Latara · 09/02/2013 22:57

YANBU.

I got my fave Shoe Express boots re-heeled recently.

But £14 is too much, i think i only paid £8.

I think that when you find boots that you like then they are worth keeping.

Bearfrills · 10/02/2013 00:18

I've never had shoes re-heeled but YANBU, it's a great idea especially if they're shoes you love.

Can any sort of heel be mended? I have some boots that cost me £30 from Deitchman and they've worn down on a slant (I tend to walk on the insides of my feet) but the heel is that soft almost rubbery material rather than hard clip-clop material (and there ends my.knowledge of heel materials).

giraffesCantEatNHSPotatoes · 10/02/2013 00:34

You could always take them in and ask?

thenightsky · 10/02/2013 00:40

I have 2 pairs of Primark boots I love and dread them wearing out. One pair is over-the-knee fabric that looks like suede. Had them at least 2 years now and never seen anything as good in the posh shops. Other pair are biker boots with buckles and chains and are really really comfy. Had them about 18 months.

I find its not so much the heels that wear as scuffs in the pretend leather that are impossible to polish out.
