They have nice little seat covers in the ones in our new shopping centre so you don't have to be a hovererer.

Like little bog doilies.

PickledInAPearTree · 09/02/2013 00:55

Nice little separate cubicles would sort that alllllll out.

piprabbit · 09/02/2013 00:59

Pickled, I was just going to post that I happily use male toilets in small settings where I know it's basically an individual cubicle behind a door (but I'd be a lot more cautious about wandering into a large and busy convenience). So I think you've hit the nail on the head - single cubicles all the way (a bit like the banks of portaloos at events).

ClippedPhoenix At the pub I used to work in the landlady sprinkled vim on top of the cisterns. Then barred anyone who came out with a nosebleed.

Hoverers are responsible for 88.3% of all Piss On The Seat incidents. Another 7% are Not Actually Piss But Just Over Enthusiastic Flush Action. Made up Fact.

Men are entitled to piss at the urinals without some arrogant woman barging in on them. There's nothing remotely feminist about invading other peoples space. There are things most of us are happy to do in front of members of our own gender that we would not dream of doing in front of the opposite gender, in single sex areas such as changing rooms and bathrooms there is an expectation of and entitlement to privacy. You have no right to breach that, being so disrespectful and obnoxious is nothing to be proud of.

mayorquimby · 09/02/2013 11:19

don't know why someone would be proud of ignorantly invading other peoples space and making them uncomfortable

PickledInAPearTree · 09/02/2013 11:27

How do you know she did that by the way?

Was she showing off saying men were running around screaming with shrivelled willies?

In a restaurant it was in all probability a private small loo and hurt precisely no one.

babanouche · 09/02/2013 13:40

Oh my word. This was a light-hearted post and some of you really get worked up about nothing. I was in a restaurant with 2 separate toilets, one for men, one for women. The woman's was occupied so I used the men's, it being a single cubicle toilet, no urinals/multi use space.

No one said anything about it making any great strides towards equality or feminism, but my brand of feminism involves having a bit of common sense with regards the societal rules we're expected to follow. You can stand there, feeling uncomfortable, with your legs crossed if you like. But frankly, if there's a toilet right there and you're not using it, that's just daft imo.

As mentioned it depends what your reaction would be to a man using the womens toilet in the same circumstances. If you'd be fine with it then cool, if not then you are a massive hypocrite.

babanouche · 09/02/2013 13:51

If I were waiting outside the woman's toilet and a bloke came out I'd see it as an excellent opportunity for a bit of a giggle and cheeky flirt while DP was waiting back at the table Grin
