I met a mother and baby (~4 months) and the first time I saw the baby I thought he had eczema or something - red marks on his head! Then I realised its because his mum wears red lipstick and kisses him on the head!

Do other people notice this or do this? I don't wear makeup, but I think if I did I would try not to rub it all over my baby!

I think you should stop thinking so much!

Confused

Is it weird thread 48 hours?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 07/02/2013 10:04

A bit what?

SirBoobAlot · 07/02/2013 10:14

Nope, YANBU. I hate seeing babies covered in lipstick kisses. Looks tacky as hell.

Polipencoch · 07/02/2013 10:15

a bit careless? Before taking babies out we usually wash their faces, consider what they wear and so on... but this little boy, clothed and otherwise clean, has greasy red marks on his head!

thanks SirBoob. I think tacky is what I think, don't want to be snobbish!

I sometimes kiss my baby after putting on lipstick, I just wipe it off no big deal.

JaquelineHyde · 07/02/2013 10:19

Shock Mother kisses own baby shocker Shock

Other obviously far superior mother makes judgement...Non shocker.

FreudiansSlipper · 07/02/2013 10:24

When ds was a few months old I noticed a brownish patch on the side of his face it just suddenly appeared one morning. Later realised a little st tropez that had rubbed off my face on to his Blush

I am sure there is someone on here that mistakenly rubbed in self tanning lotion and had a very orange baby

ds often has and always has had bits of gooey lip gloss in his hair :)

Polipencoch · 07/02/2013 10:26

Whydobabies - but you do wipe it off!

If it was a boy baby then YANBU as he will catch the gay. If it was a girl then she just looks silly like she cant even apply lipstick correctly which she should know with been a girl Grin

wannabedreams · 07/02/2013 10:32

I just hate lipstick, bleugh

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/02/2013 10:34

YANBU
Lipstick marks left on anything is just repulsive. It makes me heave if I sit down in a coffee shop whereby he table hasn't been cleared and all the cups are smeared in lipstick. It's tacky and horrible and wrong wrong wrong.

BubaMarra · 07/02/2013 10:39

YANBU. Of course it's normal for a mother to kiss her baby, but if she wears lipstick she should wipe it off the baby's face. We would not leave lipstick marks on adults, so why would it be normal to do it on babies?

ScentedNappyHag · 07/02/2013 10:43

I wear lipstick, it sometimes transfers onto things near my mouth... I can't understand why that is tacky. Unless you consider lipstick tacky- which I can get my head around, just Grin
I wouldn't leave DD dirty deliberately, but if I give her a quick kiss and she has a little smear of lipstick on her cheek that I miss? Bit of a non issue really.

Polipencoch · 07/02/2013 10:49

I'm not talking about a little smear that could be missed, but several full red lip marks on the top of his head - every time I've seen them! (he is a little boy, somewhat like mine, with very fine short fair hair at the moment, so it shows up a lot). Its certainly not the kissing I object to (I love kissing my baby's head), and although I don't particularly like the lipstick on her its her choice and nothing to do with me.

I'm glad its not just me - thought I would probably get some stick but at least some people can see where I'm coming from!

Lipsticks, especially brightly coloured lipsticks, are also full of crap. I sometimes wear it - ironically, red - but never kiss DS will it on. It's my choice to wear it, doesn't mean he should get covered in it.

JaquelineHyde · 07/02/2013 11:35

Oh goodness so now we have gone from the first time you saw him he had some red on his head and you have realised it must be from his Mum's red lipstick...

to...

Everytime you see him his is totally covered in bright red lipstick marks all over his head.

Hmm drip, drip, drip...
