Do you know for a fact it wasn't for contagious reasons?

Is the child now eating/drinking properly and otherwise well?

FromGirders · 06/02/2013 22:40

Yes you were!
How do you know it "wasn't for contagious reasons"?
Thank you for sharing with your child's classmates.

sorry, pressed post too soon.

Teenager with first ever migraine. Sad

WorraLiberty · 06/02/2013 22:41

Aww is he/she feeling better now?

Have they eaten/drank anything?

Febsixth · 06/02/2013 22:42

This happened 2pm sunday.

She had 3 hours in bed then was right as rain.

So went into school on Monday

If it was a migraine vomit then no reason why they shouldn't go to school.

BeaWheesht · 06/02/2013 22:45

Yes IMO ywbu.

Febsixth · 06/02/2013 22:45

She's absolutely fine, thanks for asking. Smile

She said she had a funny head on Monday evening, felt like gravity was working down on her, but since then, nothing.

Will make a GP appt.

I'm worried she's going to have them as bad as I do.

And stupid friend basically said I was a terribke mother for sending her in against the rules.

Well if she was happy to go and felt better, I don't understand your DF's problem?

Does he not understand that migraines aren't contagious?

Scootee · 06/02/2013 22:46

Fine. It's not like she's a 4yo who has poor hygiene skills anyway.

Febsixth · 06/02/2013 22:47

I think my friend is one of those who think rules are rules without thinking of the rationale behind them.

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 06/02/2013 22:47

Well I think you hit the nail on the head there when you said 'stupid' friend.

The rules are all about spreading germs/D&V

They have nothing to do with bloody migraines!

I hope you put her straight.

BeaWheesht · 06/02/2013 22:48

Hmmmm first ever migraine and feeling dodgy on Monday night I'd have erred on the side of caution.

Maybe your friend isn't stupid maybe she's just fed up of everyone thinking their kid is exempt from the rules (I'm not saying this to you specifically but I do hear it alot) or maybe she's emetephobic?

LouMae · 06/02/2013 22:48

Not unreasonable.

BeaWheesht · 06/02/2013 22:49

Ps my yabu was a cross post cos I took ages to type it !

WorraLiberty · 06/02/2013 22:51

But with a teenager (who I assume was ok about going back in) there's no need to err on the side of caution really.

I trust my teen to know his own mind/body and if he's got it wrong, he can always get sent home.

Febsixth · 06/02/2013 22:51

Bea, she was absolutely fine on Sunday night xand Monday morning. Just felt washed out and a bit pressured on Monday evening. And then totally on too form Tuesday again.

So I was sure I was making an ok decision, iyswim?

Febsixth · 06/02/2013 22:53

I'm a bit weak and feeble to put her straight, tbh.

Just walk away and mither about it.

FannyFifer · 06/02/2013 22:54

I vomit when I have a migraine.
I have a window of about 20 minutes from first sign of one starting to take meds, if not then its pretty grim.

omri · 06/02/2013 22:56

Fwiw I would have sent her to school too. Don't think you did anything unreasonable there

Greensleeves · 06/02/2013 23:00

YANBU. Common sense has to come into it somewhere. She wasn't going to infect anyone.

Your poor dd, I hope she doesn't get too many migraines. They are vile, aren't they? Sad

Friend is just being a bit of a jobsworth. Ignore.

Febsixth · 06/02/2013 23:05

Grin at jobsworth!

That's exactly what she is.

Yup, awful, awful things- I have them once a month but have prescription to take the second I have affected vision. It works generally, but not always.

She said she had altered vision before the pain and vomitting started, so hopefully she'll now understand her body's cue. Or, even more hopefully, never gets one again.
