To think that Asda shouldn't help themselves to money out of our account?

We had a shopping delivery booked for 21st January. Fair enough, it snowed, I would have appreciated them letting me know what was happening rather then spending 30 minutes on hold to find out, but there you go. Asda advised shopping would be with me on 22nd.

22nd came and went with no shopping and no call from Asda. DH did a shop to get desperately needed nappies and Asda finally called on the 23rd to say our order was cancelled and offering a £10 voucher by way of apology.

Checked DH's account today and saw that Asda took the £70 for the cancelled order on the 25th, two days after they cancelled it. They haven't given us the voucher either. Awaiting a call back which I doubt we'll get to explain today.

AIBU to think shops should have to deliver stuff before taking the money?!

To add insult to injury, whilst I was waiting for the shopping they sent me an email saying 'snowed in? Let Asda deliver for you'... Confused

Twats of the highest order.

I use Sainsbury and have never had any serious problem. Customer service is great on the rare occasions there has been a small problem and they refund with no quibbles either, straight away.

Just becuase the money came out of your account on the 25th doesn't mean it was actually processed on the 25th.

It can take up to 6 months for a card transaction to debit your account.

for sure , her money was NOT floating about in the ether ,somewhere , it will be , at some point credited to their account and once added to all the others in same situation that is a healthy amount of short term interest for them ,and their investors, they supply food not because they want to supply food, it"s to make money ,any which way they can ,whilst convincing? you?they really really care !(course they do)

I have heard this a few times about Asda. I still use them on occasion though because some of their stuff is well priced...

However, I hope you get your refund sorted soon and another voucher!

Love 'pile of bastards' Grin

They phoned only an hour late and say they can't process a refund without the store confirming they didn't deliver the order - despite the fact it says cancelled on their systems. They'll phone us back later today or possibly tomorrow... Won't be holding my breath!

Tesco failed to deliver our order during the "snow", without telling us they couldn't be bothered, and without looking out of the window to see that it wasn't snowing where we were and there was no snow on the ground.
