To ban Ds (2.4) from any room above the ground floor?

Seriously considering this..... Even his bedroom. Yes..... His bedroom can be the first to go.
So far today I have found purple crayon scribbles on the back of the bathroom door, green pencil marks on our bedroom wall, play-doh in the pockets of my dressing gown, red (bright sodding red) crayon on our white hall walls. Our bathroom grouting is a sort of rank, cobalt blue colour and there's a funny looking brown duck amongst his yellow pals on the shower curtain Angry
I have been wallpapering today and all these things must have passed my sleepy eyes before now as Ds isn't even here today. He's gone to be 'my darling boy' at his Gran's house for the day. Hmm
Would it be awfully, awfully wrong to give his bedroom away to the ironing pile? He can sleep in his giant pencil case I'm sure.

Iggly brilliant! So you never, ever, ever took your eyes off a toddler? Not to find your abandoned, cold cuppa or to answer a phone call? Brilliant!

DD drew on the wall when she was three.
She cleaned it off. (scourer, hot water, soap)
I sat there and supervised her till there was no mark at all.
It took an hour.
Her supper was stone cold by the time I made her eat it.
She never did it again.

Sorry but you need to be MUCH stricter about ground rules.

I know where you are coming from OP. I once sent my 2yr old DS downstairs whilst I brushed my teeth (so literally 2mins!) and in that time he had located a black permanent marker and drawn a line around the entire living room, which took in the white glossed windowsill, the marble fire surround, the walls, the radiator, the side table, the tv, another side table, a radiator and the armchair.

My face was like this --> Shock and Angry

To this day I do not know where the marker pen came from, nor how quickly he must have sprinted around the room to cause such devastation in 2 sodding minutes!

Shock steady on TalkinPeace!

Take away the crayons, sorted Smile

I have a doodle on the side of my chimney breast it a picasso type drawing of a whale and horse (well that what it looks like)

it was done about five years ago, I really need to repaint, but I love it, and will be sad to see it go.

the child that did it is now quite big, every time I catch a glance of the scribble, it takes me back to when they were three.

TalkinPeace2 · 05/02/2013 17:48

Deepredbetty
Why?
What she did was utterly wrong.
Neither she or her younger brother ever did it again.
They both love drawing and colouring but know that room walls are NOT the place to do it.

FurryDogMother · 05/02/2013 17:49

Quote - before you lose it, take a photo of it, print it out and frame it?

OP, more sympathy here, I have a school-age DC1 who loves to draw, but I supervise my toddler DC2, put the crayons away in a box and lots of other things that have been mentioned on this thread.

And yet somehow a crayon has eluded me, for there is scribble on the wall in the kitchen, courtesy of DC2.

My DC1 was an angel when younger, never would have done such a thing, and I probably would have been sanctimonious about how I didn't have that problem, could just put the crayons away. No stair gate, no child locks.

Now I have DC2. Boy oh boy. Nothing in our house is safe unless locked or nailed/screwed down. And even then I wouldn't be too sure.

Definitely not going to redecorate until he is at least 4yo...

Ha I had a graffiti artist too( also escape artist and mischief maker!). His worst misdemeanour was a bottle of tipex while I was in the shower. Think fabric sofa, tv, radiator, windows, DVD player, stereo ( in the buttons, tape decks, speakers). Took me hours and hours of scrubbing and scraping!
I feel your pain....
He is 12 now and we take great delight in reminding him if the mischief he used to cause. Plenty of ammo for wedding speeches we have!
Hide everything in sight...be VERY afraid if he goes quiet for any period of time!
