to think Playdoh should stop making so much food-themed products if it's 'not good to eat?'

It seems the majority of it is now ice-cream or breakfast or (the latest) cupcakes. What was wrong with the good, old-fashioned Barber Shop set? God, I loved that set...

And on the subject of toys, has anyone else clocked the new Moxie Girlz dolls in the Argos catalogue? I know the dolls aren't new, but now there are three you can get with little pets - that poop!!!! And they poop rainbows, glitter or jewels!!!!!! Eeeeeeeewwwwwww lol

YANBU.
My children are bloody obsessed with food at the best of times, so was slightly annoyed when I wanted to buy them Playdoh and there was nothing but food related versions!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 04/02/2013 21:28

I always wanted that bloody barber set and never got it

WorriedMummy73 · 04/02/2013 21:32

My Barbar Shop was second-hand (someone passed it on to me) and I was completely obsessed with it. I loved making the beard grow - the bloke looked like a complete hippy when I was done with him!

DS (4) now wants the new Diggin' Rigs Playdoh (finally, some aimed at boys) but everytime he gets the stuff, it all gets smooshed together into that nasty browny-green colour, then trodden into the carpet, then in the bin. Why can't I still love it as a parent?

hey you - cheers again for the other day! Wink

yes daft thing about the Playdough, especially that they smell so good!

we have no dolls yet due to excessive male influence, but I'm sure all those wonderful disasters are going to descend upon us when DD is old enough...

in fact I was very tempted to by her a Barbie Doll for her 1st Christmas, as a joke kinda thing, but I resisted the urge (she's only 9 months old, so I wouldn't have let her have it just yet!)

rainbow poop, hmmm, very tempted to name change!Grin

WorriedMummy73 · 04/02/2013 21:47

Hahahahaha@amazingmumof6 - please do change your name to Rainbow Poop, that would be awesome!

On a more serious note - my name is WorriedMummy73. And I used to LICK Playdoh as a child. expects others to stand up in support now, like at AA

As brilliant as the barber shop set was, YABU. Whenever I see children playing with play dough, (which is a lot - I work in early years) they always default to making food. If I had a pound for the amount of times I had to 'eat' biscuits, cake, peas, cupcakes, pizza, sausages, etc, I'd be rich!

WorriedMummy73 · 04/02/2013 22:20

I know IABU. It was lighthearted. It just kills me that they make so much food-themed stuff and then their tagline is 'great to play with, not to eat!'. Tell that to the boy in my class at school who ate the 'cakes' we made and was very, very sick...

Homemade playdough is pretty bad to eat. The salt content is huge.

We had one of the bits of playdoh kit when I was wee, but always used homemade.

woopsidaisy · 04/02/2013 22:24

My DS2 munched his way through loads of Playdoh! He is nearly 6 now. He loved it. I don't think it can be that bad for you. He was never sick or anything and he ate plenty!
Bad mother alert.

katecreate · 04/02/2013 22:27

YABU. Even with plain play dough, kids tend to make food out of it anyway!

WorriedMummy73 · 04/02/2013 22:28

Actually, the boy at school ate whispers Plasticine. Didn't want to get drawn into a turf war between Plasticine and Playdoh.

Gaaaaaaah! I know IABU! I've already said it was lighthearted!!!

If animals shat glitter I would definitely get one

I always wanted the hairdresser / barber playdoh set when I was little. My mum wouldn't let me have it though in case it encouraged me to cut my own hair! Smile Am very jealous of those of you that had it!

Looked at the play doh sets for my nephew at the weekend, and I must say, I was disappointed.

I am very tempted to buy this set off of Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/Tobar-Dough-Heads/dp/B002MK0XTY/ref=pd_sim_sbs_k_h_b_cs_1 Purely for me my nephew you understand!

valiumredhead · 15/02/2013 11:08

Home made play dough is better and too salty to eat Grin
