to not understand PDA on Facebook? Or am I just cynical?

My friend has been in a relationship for just under 3 weeks (really happy for her) but each time I go on my Facebook all I see is

  • A new photo uploaded each day of them (most of them kissing photos.)
  • Status saying how happy they are.
  • Dedicating songs to each other.
  • Tagging themselves in every single place they happen to go together.
  • Generally every status is dedicated to each other.

Now I don't mind the odd photo or nice status and usually when I see them it makes me smile. Nice to know that people are happy.

But things like my above example ... just seem a little false? Especially after 3 weeks. Like why not just tell each other how happy you are and not the entire Facebook world?

I have the same thing with one of my friends - when I dared leave a jokey 'ooh what's he want / what has he done?' comment about a photo of a massively big bunch of flowers he'd sent her I got flamed for being a jealous cow!!

Seriously, just keep a bucket handy to vomit in! Wink

(disclaimer: I love this particular couple to bits but DH and I are just not heavy on the romance. Lol)

oh! as the mum of a child on the autistic spectrum PDA means something else entirely! (pathalogical demand avoidance!)

so now i get you.

and i dont see the harm - its the honeymoon period surely. ive forgotten what that is being married for 22 years and being old and boring but im sure its quite nice for them!

just ignore if it bothers you - or dont go on FB. ive stopped looking....problem solved!

It's damn sight better than whining.
I hate whiney statuses.

YANBU
I hate it in all ways especially kissing photos. (sometimes it comes across as a bit false - but 3 weeks wow, I hate holding BF hand in public and we are having a kid)

But then I hate real-life PDA

SirIronBottom · 03/02/2013 22:14

I've just unfollowed an ex of mine on FB - unfollowed, not unfriended - because her very new BF keeps posting gross 'fuck ya later xxxxxxxx' innuendos on everything she shares. It's most unbecoming. And it's a shame because most of what she shares is very funny.

It's not out of jealousy: my DW also knows and likes my ex, but agreed with me wholeheartedly when I said why I was taking her off my newsfeed.

I really, really hate Facebook PDAs. Keep it in the bloody bedroom!

I would NEVER EVER do it, as I think it's naff...but I don't mind if someone else does. I roll my eyes at the brand new never-been-so-happy-in-our-lives-even- if-it's-only-been-a-fortnight smoochfests, but overall I think I'm glad they're happy even if I do suspect it'll all come crashing round their ears once the novelty wears off and they realise that actually they just can't stand one another

Smile

Ahhh the honeymoon period. The time where you're in your best behaviour and the person doesn't know all your terrible flaws yet Wink

I would never do this because like pictish demonstrated if it did come crashing down after the honeymoon is over then you end up looking a little silly.
