Do you think there is a "Polish" problem in the Uk now that it's become the 2nd language in England?

I've been to Poland and I like Poles a lot as a people. I think Warsaw is a great city and I have nothing against Polish people.

My mother complained back in 2007 about the number of Poles in Liverpool changing the 'culture'. What she meant was that she loves to banter with people in shops and restaurants and she used to get a lot of chat back (Liverpudlians are generally very funny - IMHO - and love a bit of verbal 'how's your father'). She complained that this had changed and that she was increasingly met with blank stares. This is high insult to my mother!

I didn't think much of it. But I am now finding the same - I approached a new restaurant outlet at my local services today and joked about them selling hot dogs and milkshakes and what a welcome addition to the usual (was hungry and about to make an irresponsible food choice!). I got the same blank stare. Didn't understand a word I said.

I finally understood what my mother has been saying. AIBU?

Nomads...I'm sure you have a point that you're simply not bright enough to articulate in way that doesn't read as offensive,I just simply cannot see what it is.

And please OP stop saying "all Polish people are xyz" as if they are all the same with no variation. Saying "all" any nation is a ridiculou sweeping statement. Polish people are just people like any other. I must admit,I've yet to meet a Polish person I have found unpleasant but that's neither here nor there.

"Tak" or "tidak" means "no" in Malay.

I would have thought that Polish people would fit right in if a place was full of witty, talkative people as all the Polish people I know are like that.

And WTAF about the "at least it's not Arabic"?! Yes, a language with an amazing oral tradition and a rich tradition of poetry, history, literature and science isn't something we'd want in the UK, oh dear me no. Hmm

I sometimes buy Polish choc bars from our local Polski Sklep. One of the shop assistants is lovely and chatty - we had a nice discussion of vodka one day. The other is a rude old bag who barely acknowledges your presence, let alone stares at you blankly. Both are Polish.

I do recommend Polish chocolate. I also like the bread that this shop sells, and the esoteric range of crisps. Food is one of the benefits of multiculturalism.

It's my opinion.

Are you saying that anyone who disagrees with you should fuck off?

And LineRunner - why should I be banned?

This is outrageous!
