Virtually the same thing on every day at the same time. Series on a permanent loop, and often the same series/films across different channels. Can't they mix it up a bit? Are "they" trying to tranquilise "us".

I'll answer your question shortly

But for now, here's a quick commercial break....

Cherriesarelovely · 30/01/2013 23:31

I agree, so much on and yet so little to watch at the same time. Turn it off I reckon!

Grin Worra

freddiefrog · 30/01/2013 23:52

I agree.

I'm sitting up waiting for a late home teenager and flicking through Sky. There's hundreds of channels but so many of them are +1 hour and the rest are showing the same programmes on a loop

UhOhChongo · 31/01/2013 00:02

Haha Worra yes, I think it's all about the pigeonholing us for advertising at. Cherries, true, makes me think of Bruce Springsteens "57 Channels and there's nothing on". Kim, thanks for info should have guessed trend started in USA.

It's true.but not only that they show the same episodes again and again. I Feel like there have only been 10 episodes of big bang theory ever at the moment!!!

UhOhChongo · 31/01/2013 00:10

Freddie I don't have Sky, I've always vaguely assumed they must have bought up the rights to show most films/series. (Hope your teen gets home soon, so you can relax)

Pinkstinks The thing I don't get is there must be massive archives of things that could be shown, but only certain things seem to get air time ad nauseum.

You don't have to watch TV, most of its crap anyway. You could... Read a book, watch a DVD, play some games, watch some pre-recorded TV, listen to the radio...

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 31/01/2013 08:57

I was thinking of getting a virgin package but DS said it will be just a load more extra channels showing nothing you really want to watch so I didn't bother.

UhOhChongo · 31/01/2013 09:12

PhallicGiraffe er, I do all those things you mention. Just find it annoying that it's mainly the same programmes on permanent rotation, when there must be such massive archives to choose from.

Step I think you've prob made the right decision.

MY eldest dd watches friends on a loop it isn't even on E4 anymore its on comedy central or something. a saturday morning she gets up for work friends is on I go out the room and bloody friends is on does my head in my poor child has been brainwashed to accept repeats as the norm.

I guess daytime schedules are just that I do like to watch Dickensons real deal and was a bit humphy when they put it on at 2 and not 3
