I ordered a Hoover from Amazon 2 weeks ago. They sent a car seat. I've called numerous times to see when it will be picked up and they just keep telling me someone will be jn touch!

I've nowhere else to store the stupid thing and it's a large box. It's a Maxi Cosi type that was destined for St Albans! How it ended up jn northern Scotland i'll never know

Did they ever send the hoover? Or a refund?

atthewelles · 30/01/2013 14:17

Give them a deadline and tell them you'll be disposing of it if it hasn't been collected by then.

IrnBruChew · 30/01/2013 14:24

I got the hoover 2 days after the mix up and I asked the delivery driver if he'd take the carseat but he said he couldn't as he knew nothing about it. Plus the following day they tried to deliver another hoover. Confused

I would sell it if they don't pick it up within a reasonable timeframe. Amazon can be crap sometimes.

IrnBruChew · 30/01/2013 14:35

Dh suggested selling it! I'm too scared to as the minute I sell it sure as hell someone will come to collect. It may come to that though.

Get a date from them. If they can't commit, tell them you have no room so will be getting rid of it.
Then sell it!

manticlimactic · 30/01/2013 14:50

Isn't it unsolicited? There's a time limit and then it's yours.

DoodleAlley · 30/01/2013 14:51

I need a Hoover and a new car seat! Maye you could point
Me in the direction of the Hoover which comes with a complementary car seat?!

Catsdontcare · 30/01/2013 14:53

No it's not unsolicited, it only counts as such if you receive an item from a company you have made no order with. As this was a mistake selling it would be illegal. Had a similar experience recently but as the value of the mistakenlY sent goods was over £2000 I figured they notice the error sooner or later so fessed up and they showed up the next day to collect (no surprise!)

firesidechat · 30/01/2013 14:55

No don't think it would be classed as unsolicited because you did order something from the company,so I don't think you can claim it as yours . It's more of an error with the delivery.

I'm pretty sure that your only responsibility is to make it available for collection. Not sure how long would be reasonable in these circumstances though.

I'd send a letter saying they need to collect within 7 days or you will be disposing of it.

IrnBruChew · 30/01/2013 15:45

I've just requested a call back from customer services again! I'll give it until the weekend and if no joy I'll write to them.
