dds think I'm selfish because I bought some phish food ice cream and they don't like it

they discovered a tub in the freezer

I'm a single parent

I hardly spend any money on myself, go out socially twice a year etc etc

they are my priority

I buy a tub of ben & jerry's every 3 months or so but apparently because I get it and don't get them any then I'm selfish

they get pocket money which they can spend how they like, they still have christmas sweets etc

I'm allowed a treat aren't I?

apparently they were joking when I told them they were self entitled but still Hmm

Oh so glad that my weird DS doesn't like ice cream of any flavour

VinegarTits · 01/02/2013 12:28

i would sit in front of them and eat it, and go 'mmmm' loudly [childish]

SoWhatIfImWorkingClass · 01/02/2013 12:30

mmmm Phish Food ice cream- You're lucky they don't like it! That stuff quite simply is THE shit.

HoratiaWinwood · 01/02/2013 12:34

Phish Food is nasty. Frozen chocolate pieces are an abomination.

YANBU though.

You need to buy it at the same time that they spend their pocket money. They can see then that that's your treat and they have theirs.

By that logic you'd be going to bed at the same time as them and wearing school uniform to work as well...

You absolutely don't have justify to them how you spend their money. unless you make them live off bread and water obviously

You did the right thing- they were being cheeky and it's good to stamp it out now before they hit the teens for real!
