To not understand how you can ignore a baby?

PIL were round last night and whilst FIL took an active interest in my 2 month old baby, talking and playing with her, MIL sat in the corner and barely looked at her.

She never phones us and when my boyfriend phones she never asks how we're getting on, just goes on and on about herself.

Could it be jealousy that I had the daughter she always wanted?

From your OP it doesn't sound like it's anything personal to do with your daughter, she doesn't sound particularly interested in your or her son either, some people are just like that, more interested in themselves.

Is this a change in her normal personality/behaviour? You mention that she's good with babies, have you seen her with very young babies? Is this the first time she saw your DD?

Sorry, loads of questions. In all honesty I think this is between your DP and his mum - whatever 'this' is.
