And by that I mean "feisty"Wink

I loathe it with a passion, but I seem unable to adequately explain to DH why I find it quite so offensive. I find it patronising and belittling, as if a woman can't be strong and capable without having this label applied. Men who are like this aren't "feisty" so why are women?

How would you describe a feisty woman then...as opposed to a woman who isn't feisty?

I prefer to 'spirited' cos that just makes me think of naughty children Grin

FreudiansSlipper · 27/01/2013 11:36

I prefer it to spunky :)

How about the same way you would describe a man with the same characteristics? Would you describe Jean Claude Van Damme as feisty? When his character is the same as Lara Croft, why is she a "feisty heroine" and he's not? It's lazy and patronising shorthand for a woman who doesn't conform to the meek and gentle wilting blossom waiting for her man to rescue her stereotype.

Yes it's all a bit 'angrily flashing eyes and determined- jutting out jaw'. Outdated, sexist and naff

I thought you were taking about the *eminist word.
I agree it's sickening.
