What do I do?

Started DS's homework at 11:20. He's more than capable. Involved 5 sentences on Titanic.

He has done one sentence. I told him we could go sledging when it finished.

We are still sitting at the table.

He has thrown pencils, screwed up papers, thrown his book on the floor, sat under the table. He's scribbled in a reference book.

I've told him he's going to finish.

I have remained calm. Aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I try not to fight sbout this now. I ask ds what he has, he tells me, i tell him when i think it would be best to do it. Ie you have half an hour before dinner etc and then I leave it and if he doesnt do it and gets in trouble for it thats his look out.

I cant bear him looking back and just remembering us nagging and screeching at eachother.

I do make him do his violin though. Tsk.

What does it really matter of a six year old doesnt do his homework. It is invariably fill in a bloody sheet or make a poster anyway. I think they are quite right when they insist its a waste of time.

He is only 6! I wouldn't push on homework until they were at secondary school. My 7 year old only gets spellings once a week and these are OK but if she doesn't want to do it, I don't push at all. My reception-age child has a different phonic sound to write out 4 nights a week. It sends him into a rage, so, I just leave the homework undone, unless, on the odd occasion he says he wants to do it. I know he's learning at school. So sue me, I don't think its going to affect his GCSEs!

Nearly 7 and he's learning about the Titanic??? They don't do Titanic till year 5 here.

I threaten to write to ds's teacher and say he refuses to do the homework. Then he tends to back down!!
