Huge row with DH because once dinner that he had cooked was ready, he then dropped Wok on floor and half fell out, which he put back in with hands - fair enough I thought as want it back in wok asap, he had burnt himself so I offered to serve up whilst he ran his hand under cold water. He shouted angrily back that he was fine and didn't need help, then spent another 5 minutes dishing up noodles between 2 bowls with his fingers, redistributing veg back and forth between bowls again, with fingers. (utensils in wok being totally ignored) I asked him for my bowl, as I couldn't stand watching him fingering my food any longer. He thinks I'm a 'twat' now. Do you prefer food to be dished out with utensils or fingers?

Eew... Utensils definitely.

MyLastDuchess · 19/01/2013 21:09

YANBU. But it sounds like he was BU because he burned himself, and then felt really angry and annoyed (as you do) which is why he shouted angrily that he didn't need help. So he probably got really angry about the whole thing and is taking it out on you, which is not at all fair but is understandable.

Dishing up with fingers is disgusting.

Is he a chef by profession? They do it all the time, but no, I don't like it.

lunabay · 19/01/2013 21:17

Thank you ladies, he tried using the 'chef's do it all the time' - he's not a chef (actor/gardener/childminder).Glad to hear I am not mad

Chefs regularly serve noodles with their hands...? Hmm

Bluestocking · 19/01/2013 21:54

I would be more concerned about the food having been on the floor! But maybe your kitchen floor is cleaner than mine.

AgentZigzag · 19/01/2013 22:03

He overreacted when you look on what happened from the outside, there must be more to it than what you've said?

I wouldn't mind DD/DH touching my food with their fingers because I know they'd have washed their hands, but the less close the relationship I had with the disher up, the more I'd be bothered by it.

I could probably just stand Dad, but definitely wouldn't like a random person poking about with my food - not that they do like Grin

5inabed · 19/01/2013 22:07

What chefs are these? My husband is a chef in a 5 * hotel and I can guarantee he doesn't serve food of any kind with his fingers at work or at home.

HecateWhoopass · 19/01/2013 22:08

So you ate food that had been on the floor, but think him touching it is disgusting? Grin

TodaysAGoodDay · 19/01/2013 22:12

I hope he washed his hands...some men don't bother after going to the toilet (yes I'm looking at you DB).

So definitely YANBU.

Catchingmockingbirds · 19/01/2013 22:42

5inabed exp and a couple of friends are also chefs and wouldn't serve up food with their hands either.

tallwivglasses · 19/01/2013 22:42

YANBU. It's threads like these that remind me why I'm happy being single Wink

AKissIsNotAContract · 19/01/2013 22:44

I sometimes serve food up for DP with my fingers. I don't see the problem. We lick each others genitals, it's not as though he can catch something from my hands.

AgentZigzag · 19/01/2013 22:44

Eww yeah tallwiv, them blokes with their nasty manky germs Grin

Best off without

MusicalEndorphins · 19/01/2013 22:45

I have never heard of anyone doing that. I wouldn't eat food that fell onto the floor either.

AgentZigzag · 19/01/2013 22:45

'We lick each others genitals'

Hahaha, it's all relative isn't it? Grin

AgentZigzag · 19/01/2013 22:47

It'd depend on what it was as to whether I'd eat it off the floor (and what day it is, I mop on Sundays Grin)

Tescos pizza - probably not

Pizza I made from scratch today - I may have done.
