It makes Googling a right pain in the botty. You put something like "BDSM Reading" for whatever reason into the Googlebox and it gives you a load of books you might like to read.

I suggest Tiggy City.

I grew up in The People's Republic of Pangbourne. I love Reading, although admit I haven't been there for a few years now. Anyone remember the Majestic?

Waves to Marlin..I am in Caversham too. Was in the Alto Lounge yesterday thinking I was the Queen of Sheba. We are now Reading but we used to be in Oxfordshire....

I don't live in Reading but its my nearest large town. I've lived all over the country and really Reading is pretty nice. Yet everyone from Reading thinks its rubbish. There are much worse towns about!

Oh get you with your Junction 10 problems, I was born at Junction 5. Imagine doing English lessons having to put a positive spin on 'Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough'.

Now live in rural sticks, a million miles away but took my girls to the Hexagon to see Justin in panto and surprised myself by getting genuinely quite teary at the Brutilist architecture.

Reading is a town and I hope it stays that way. It's the largest town in the country which gives Reading an interesting fact about it.

I quite like Reading, good selection of shops, the museum is good for a browse with the kids. It gets horribly busy at weekends though, especially bloody Primark.

Well I love Reading, lived here for 8 years, both my boys are born and bred, love bringing them up here, have met so many friendly people and have built up a successful childminding business. I do not live in one of the "posh" parts (and have no wish to) and even, (shock...horror), sometimes shop in Primark!!

I think that's a dull fairly negative article 14 years out of date. Easy to knock Reading - but there is actually a number of positive things:

Great restaurants
Caversham Court Gardens - outdoor cinema in the summer
Forbury Gardens
Prospect Theatre
Reading Film Theatre
Reading Festival
RISC - The Global Cafe - lots of environmental and arty things meet up there
Lots of business networking groups. African food on a Thursday...
Some funky pubs down by the river

If you want great things about Reading then I think it's cool that we've got our own copy of the Bayeux tapestry which is free to go and look at in the Town Hall. It's well displayed with explanations of each scene and if you go at the right time you have the whole thing to yourself (rather than the original where we were continually hurried round by the French woman behind us and many other tourists)
