NewYearNewThinking · 18/01/2013 08:07

Made a gorgeous beef stew yesterday - had left overs for dinner tonight and tupperwared it up to go in the fridge last night.

However / have just come down to the kitchen to discover I forgot to put in the fridge.

So ...... AIBU to fridge or now and have it tonight anyway?

i would
so long as you heat it really thoroughly it'll be fine

BeckAndCall · 18/01/2013 08:11

I'd have no problem with it ( then again I had no problem with the turkey left out either)

Shinyshoes1 · 18/01/2013 08:11

Eat it

AlienReflux · 18/01/2013 08:11

I would

discorabbit · 18/01/2013 08:12

i always do that, usally as not enought room in fridge, also our kitchen is as cold as the fridge atm

tempnameswap · 18/01/2013 08:13

Yes eat it - if your kitchen is anything iike mine it will have been a fridge last night anyway. Just heat it thoroughly.

tempnameswap · 18/01/2013 08:13

x posts discorabbit!

CogitoErgoSometimes · 18/01/2013 08:14

YANBU. Unless your kitchen runs at some ridiculously high temperature, nothing bad will have happened to a stew in just a few hours.

Lesbeadiva · 18/01/2013 08:16

I did this last week. Was fine. And tastes even better. Love a stew me Grin

Pancakeflipper · 18/01/2013 08:18

If it had been a hot Summers night I wouldn't. But it wasn't so I would hear it up extra well and panic buy some crusty bread to go with it.

sookiesucksvamps · 18/01/2013 08:33

I made soup on monday intending to freeze leftovers however I forgot and left it out all night then froze it in the morning will it be ok?

Ragwort · 18/01/2013 08:36

Of course it will be fine, how do you all think people coped before fridges? Hmm. Not everyone had ice houses in their grounds Grin. Its not that long ago that most people didn't actually have fridges.

CelticPromise · 18/01/2013 08:36

It'll be fine. I regularly leave things to go cold overnight before freezing. don't worry.

aderynlas · 18/01/2013 08:45

Not so long ago that my nan thought soup was only really tasty after the third lot of water had been added to it on the second day of use. Bless her. Not a fridge in sight either.

RillaBlythe · 18/01/2013 08:47

I'd use it. I frequently leave the leftovers out overnight actually.

NewYearNewThinking · 18/01/2013 09:09

Thank you all - that's decided then - beef stew for dinner tonight.

Tgft as its snowing and I really don't want to go out for provisions. Grin

Stop making me jealous. I did not panic buy, I didn't even normal buy and now have all 3 dc with me and no food. Worst thing is I picked up some lovely beef from the butchers yesterday for my mum.

blonderthanred · 18/01/2013 09:55

Mmm I always leave stew out in the pot and reheat the next day with a bit of water. Tastes even better than the first time.

Oh I want stew now!

Fakebook · 18/01/2013 09:57

Eat it. Unless you left the heat on during the night. Then I'd be a bit weary.

ethelb · 18/01/2013 09:58

I'm a right big fuss pot about that sort of thing but the kitchen was probably pretty cold and it was well cooked beef (which isn't v risky anyway) so I would eat it with gusto.

However, i wouldn't be sayign the same if it had been the hottest day of the year yesterday Grin

RuleBritannia · 18/01/2013 10:00

Food left out overnight seems to blend better (bit like marinading) so has fuller flavour.

florilegia · 18/01/2013 11:43

I'd eat it, especially if the kitchen was as cold as ours was overnight. If you left the radiators on full-blast all night I might be a bit more wary!

Soups, stews etc ALWAYS taste better the next day. We often leave them out overnight (our kitchen has 3 exposed walls so is FREEZING at the moment anyway) and then freeze any that's left after it's reheated.

Especially with beef....it's a bit more safe than other meats isn't it?

Startail · 18/01/2013 11:57

Our kitchen is heated , left out stew and spag Bol, get eaten.
No ill effects yet.
