After dinner tonight our the house is bare.

I'll be out of milk, butter, pasta Shock, fruit, veg the lot. Haven't even got any beans.

My sister informs me there is panic buying in Sainsburys 'worse than Christmas'.

I'll be alright until tomorrow won't I?

Is there an ice age predicted for tomorrow or something? We are spectacularly shit at dealing with ice and snow in the UK.

I have a M&S not-voucher and, with an upcoming dinner party towards the end of next month, I went to buy duck breasts today. I just happened to be in town. They had two packs of two with 'buy 3 for £10' stickers on them. Unfortunately, there were only two packs on the shelf. I picked them up and looked for starters. There were little packs of two smoked salmon things priced at 'buy three for £6'. There were only two packs available. A very helpful woman filling shelves told me that I could order them in advance and collect them using the 'buy 3 for £10' thing etc. So I put them all back.

If you are so stuck for food, why don't you order from your local shop by telephone and collect when available? That's what I plan to do. I luurrve duck breasts. I haven't ordered in advance for collection before.

Petrol, bananas, beer and milk were the most popular panic buys in our local supermarkets today. Everyone obviously has to drive a long distance to their banoffee pie parties.

I had my Tesco delivery today instead it tomorrow!. I only did it like that because DS1 was going to be at home to help, DH usually is on a Friday but won't be tomorrow.

I was so grateful when I saw the forecast and then the delivery driver said he didn't think they will make it round if it does snow as much as they predict.

I'm going to walk to the nearest pub and we can all eat there, I'm sure they won't miss a chance to make money and will be stocked up!

Pandemoniaa · 17/01/2013 22:25

I refused to panic buy any shopping today. Admittedly we've now got buggerall to eat but we can sustain ourselves on moral superiority. That and a case of wine and half a tin of Quality Street.
