To think that this is not a good drink for a small child

Went in to town with DS2 today and saw a woman put a can of redbull in to her child's bottle, child must have been about 18 months old Confused
Bet bed time at their house is going to be fun.

well i dont think you should be so judgey ... you dont know why she gave it the child

i certainly wouldnt - but drs say give lemonade and lucozade for reasons - and i wouldnt give either to my dcs ... i also wouldnt touch red bull or any type of energy drink

catgirl1976 · 12/01/2013 15:39

There is NO valid reason to give a small child red bull in a bottle

My judgey pants are staying hoicked

Grapesoda · 12/01/2013 15:45

Red bull can be harmful to such a young child so YANBU in thinking it's unsuitable.
The Gregg's sausage roll comment was a bit loaded though.

ImagineJL · 12/01/2013 15:47

Agree Catgirl. Even stretching my imagination beyond the relms of possibilities, I can't come up with a sensible reason for giving red bull to a toddler. We are allowed to judge every now and then you know 39, if something is blatantly stupid and wrong. I hate this "their child their choice" attitude, that's how child abusing parents often get away with what they do, because we are condemned for criticising others.

MrsBungleBear · 12/01/2013 15:50

That is concerning. I once had a red bull and came over very peculiar! My heart was racing and my head was spinning. I know not everyone reacts like this but to put that stuff in a baby is totally Shock

Cortana · 12/01/2013 15:53

Agree with Catgirl and Imagine. My judgypants are hurting but staying where they are. Given, some energy drinks can look more like pop, but Redbull is a brand that makes no secret of what is in the drink and what the effects are.

RabidCarrot · 12/01/2013 15:57

Sorry had to go take DS2 to a sleep over.

No it was definitely Redbull, I did a double take.
I do not let my kids drink that stuff and they are 16 and 12.
My sister drinks gallons of the bloody stuff but in a million years would not give it to a child, she even stopped drinking it when breast feeding.
I promise you there was no fruit shoot, no Greggs and I do not live under a bridge.

I miss those glass bottles with cellophane that lucozade used to come in. Back then, you only had it if you were ill, now it's sold as an energy drink that people drink all the time.

I dread to think what my dds would be like if they had Redbull. They would never sleep, so apart from it being bad for them, wouldn't you just be causing yourself a lot of aggravation?

RabidCarrot · 12/01/2013 17:47

I miss those glass bottles with cellophane that lucozade used to come in too, I remember having a bottle of it when I was in hospital and feeling so grown up Grin

Really?

I'm sorry but I don't believe you..

RabidCarrot · 12/01/2013 17:59

Why would I make it up?
Sorry but I have a life I don't need to "make things up" on the web you know, however if you wish to call me a lier carry on, I know I am telling the truth

there is no reason a doctor would order a mother to give her child red bull ffs Hmm

In a baby bottle too?? Purleeeease.

she (if it was what it looked like) was an obvious loon.
