... which, in its question about your age has tick boxes for 16-25, 26-35 etc in nine year groups, then one for 55+.

Apparently, it is vital to distinguish between the views of a 25 year old and a 35 year old, but presumably anyone over 55 can be written off as 'oldies' ....

I notice that in their email, MNHQ said that the survey was written by LactoFree and 'so is worded slightly differently to a usual MN survey'. It certainly is....

I would object to that question as well.

It's a daft grouping. They are assuming that people of 55 have the same sort of opinion as 100-year-olds. I expect men devised it.

Once they reach the age of 55, 65, or 75 they will realise that those people are not old either.

I do a lot of competitions and surveys and that grouping isn't all that unusual. However, as a 34 year old I was a bit miffed to find myself in the oldest category in one form I filled in, where the oldest was "31+" !! I assume it was drawn up by a teenager who thought that anyone over 30 was practically a pensioner.

Just because it's not unusual doesn't mean it's any less annoying though...
