Just told my boss to stick his job, stormed out tears and everything. Then had to come and sit quietly back at my desk as I need the money!!!

Feel pathetic.

Are you okay, sounds like you are having a terrible time. What's going on at your work to make you feel so bad?

StuffezLaBouche · 11/01/2013 11:01

To be honest, many bosses would take you at your word and expect you to leave immediately.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 11/01/2013 11:02

I understand some bosses are arrogant arseholes but yes, sounds like you were a bit a pathetic (I mean that in the nicest ossible way). You should never threaten something you aren't prepared to follow through and there are probably loads of people who would love to take your job.

Hope he didn't take it literally!

Hayleyh34 · 11/01/2013 11:04

Yeah, it was very out of character and boss was nice about it when I came back in.

I'm ok thanks babs, just a culmination of shittiness that built up inside me!

Don't feel pathetic, don't storm and cry, - use your energy into getting a CV together and sit tight until the time is right. Smile

Hayleyh34 · 11/01/2013 11:06

Thanks *Fenton", am so cross at myself for being so flouncy. I NEVER behave like that!

I was saying to one of my co-workers only yesterday that they mustn't get would up by work and then I do this!

That should say wound up!

Hayleyh34 · 11/01/2013 11:09

You should never talk like that at work, your boss will lose respect for you and could have taken you at your word and asked you to leave. If work is super shitty then work out if it is doable, if it's not then push back and ask for help, it is doable the crack on with it but promise yourself a nice treat, a glass of wine or coffee with a friend when you can slag off your job/boss to your hearts content and you will feel better.

If you hate your job then don't quit until you have another job to go to. It's easier to get a job when you have a job, also the salary offer in a new job will be better if you are employed than not. (evidenced in recruitment research)

Sorry to hear you've had a difficult morning.

I'm assuming there's been a chain of events leading up to your outburst? I would take some time to think through what the issues are. What can you let go? Where can you make changes to make things better? Where do you need support from your boss and/or colleagues?

Then go and talk to your boss, apologise and talk him/her through it all. It's key that you bring some possible solutions, I think.

I used to run quite a big team and I would have been quite worried if one of my team behaved like that - I would have been quite keen to find out why and resolve things.

Don't make a habit of it though!

Oh and if it makes you feel better, when he was very young dh did something similar but before he had actually started a new job. They took him out and got him very drunk and were taking the piss a lot and he told them to stick their job up their arses Shock He was famous in the company before he'd even started - I think they were quite amazed that he had the guts to show up. Anyway he stayed there 7 years and got promoted into a very senior position so it wasn't career ending Grin

That's brilliant Dewdrop

My boss actually apologised to me and acknowledged that he had not been treating me correctly so am pleased with that.

Just am cross at my reaction to the situation

I once had a proper hyperventilating sob (years ago) to my boss during a one to one appraisal meeting - you know like children do when they. get. one. word. out. at. a. time. between sharp intake of breath sobs?

I was so embarrassed and so was he, he just didn't know what to do other than 'okay, easy - calm down'

He was like that boss from the UK The Office.

Awful Blush

Hayleyh34 · 11/01/2013 11:44

Fenton, that's how I was this morning!

And how I was when he started apologising!!
