Stop reading the magazines!

Now, where's my chocolate...

Hammy02 · 08/01/2013 13:27

YANBU. I'm bored already with all the diet talk at work. I need to lose some weight but I would never bore anyone by telling them what I ate last night.

Geranium3 · 08/01/2013 13:33

I totally agree, that is why i tend to buy a gardening magazine in january so i can think of summer days in the garden....... and eat my choc orange in bliss!!!

FunnysInLaJardin · 08/01/2013 13:35

yanbu. I can't bear all that 'Gwan treat yourself' in the run up to Christmas followed by 'right you fat lazy slob, here's a stick to flay yourself with. Repent'

PickledInAPearTree · 08/01/2013 13:37

There should be New Years resolutions in the summer. It seems cruel in January, its the worse month of the year IMO.

Absy · 08/01/2013 13:41

I agree. It's completely the worst time of year to start trying any kind of diet/exercise plan. You're DOOMED to fail because it's so dark, so miserable, there's nothing to look forward to, and then you have to give up chocolate. I mean, come on

SpanishFly · 08/01/2013 13:59

I LOVE dieting in January! Seriously - i start to get really fed up with all the party food and chocolate over xmas/NY, and start to feel the wight piling on. I then enjoy slimming down a few pounds afterwards.
I usually drink far too much (ie every single night) and eat a lot of veg but also a lot of junk. So cutting down to wine 3 days a week is actually something I feel proud of in January.

But YANBU, it's everyone's personal choice - it shouldnt be quite so in-your-face at this time of year.

atthewelles · 08/01/2013 14:07

I think Sept is a good time to start making resolutions. You're all chilled and relaxed after the Summer, there's still Christmas to look forward to, the weather's usually still warm and the evenings are still fairly bright. I quite enjoy the 'back to school' feel at that time of year but I really hate the anti climax feeling of January. I hate it, hate it, hate it..................................

January is the best month! It's my birthday, so let's all get out fat party dresses on and keep indulging in one to many (for the time being anyway)

ShamyFarrahCooper · 08/01/2013 14:10

Don't buy the mags, they are full of crap anyway.

axure · 08/01/2013 14:15

atthewelles I also love back to school time, memories of getting kitted out with new shoes, pencils etc. I don't mind January the nights are drawing out again, all the Xmas tat has been put away and you can do a good clean for the first time in weeks. Any dieting now will pay dividends by the time the Spring arrives, better than the get into a bikini in 4 weeks diet in June.

SpanishFly · 08/01/2013 14:30

I like january a lot - spring is just around the corner, nights are getting lighter. I disagree re September, I find it depressing being the end of summer and knowing winter is on the way

fancyabakeoff · 08/01/2013 14:32

I hate shopping in January. It should be a relaxing affair after the hustle and bustle and expense of Christmas shopping madness but what do I get? I turn a corner of a supermarket aisle and weep want to scream GIVE ME A FECKING BREAK! when I am faced with rows and rows of Easter and Valentines day related products!

I'm ordering a pizza in a minute. I justify the cost as you get loads of vouchers in January for pizza places and I don't spend money on magazines Grin

PickledInAPearTree · 08/01/2013 17:25

Paying for Pizza takeaway enrages me, I cant bear paying for what is a great big cheese on toast!

But looooooovely.

HoneyDragon · 08/01/2013 17:36

Yes but it's cheese on toast that some one else has made. Two large stuffed crust pizza, 4 cookies and chicken wings all for 17 English pounds.

PickledInAPearTree · 08/01/2013 17:37

Thats not too bad but I LOVE those Dr Oetker one that are 2 for three pounds, with Mozzerella and Pesto.

Mmmm. I want one now.

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2013 17:41

Patsy Kensit has written to me telling me to join Weight Watchers. It arrived on 27th December. Shock

Martin Lewis was on TV the other day baffling me about credit cards.

I am fine eating peanuts and not applying for credit cards ta.

PickledInAPearTree · 08/01/2013 17:57

I'm having loads of emails for payday loans!

Wommer · 08/01/2013 18:04

Makes much more sense to leave all of the healthy eating/not drinking/extra exercising until February...

For one thing the nice weather is that bit closer, and for another it's 3 days shorter than January! Grin

curiousuze · 08/01/2013 19:23

It's all the photos that accompany the articles of women laughing while eating salad that get me. I've eaten many a salad and never found one hilarious.

redwellybluewelly · 08/01/2013 19:36

OP I fucking hate January

It has my birthday in it.
I cant get anything done in the garden
I have unrealistic NYR to brood over
Its cold and dark
I'm completely broke

Fucking loathe it

Feb is better and by March spring is here
