I haven't dared watch War Horse! I love the book though. I have Watership Down on, it is one of my favourite books and films :)

Ds1 has just walked out of the living room too as it's too sad...

It is, indeed, a sad film which makes me

But ... is anyone old enough to remember watching a young lad called Matthew Butler singing 'Bright Eyes' on Tiswas back in the late 1980s (I think)? Here - I cried ... with laughter!

PumpkinPositive · 06/01/2013 17:49

This was my favourite film as a small child. Watched it every day, to the point I still know the script pretty much by heart. Never understand why people think it's sad - Hazel's death scene is gentle and beautiful.

PumpkinPositive · 06/01/2013 17:51

Blimey, little Matthew is almost as shouty as Alexandra Burke.

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 06/01/2013 17:57

Can't watch it, the song was played at my little sister's funeral.

mrsjay · 07/01/2013 09:10

Tell her to read the book mrs jay, they are always better than the films, make sure you stock up on tissues first though

I think she read it in history yes I know it isn't real but was part of her ww1 project , she cried again, I really dont want to watch warhorse with people around I would probably sob.

Boomerwang · 07/01/2013 09:23

I saw warhorse and didn't find it anywhere near as emotional as I was hoping for. Certainly not in the league of Black Beauty.

Maybe I'm getting hard in my old age :( Shame because I do love a good weepie. The last time I did a sniffle was the scene in Armageddon where Liv Tyler says goodbye to Bruce Willis. I haven't had a proper cry about any movie for years.

Sorry if this is a bit of a derail, but can anyone recommend a movie that's sure to make me blub? I want a good clear out!

mrsjay · 07/01/2013 09:25

do you like Animal films ? i recommend Hacchi it is about a dog who adopts an owner it is a sobfest I swear sobs and snot when I watched it,

NewYearNewNN · 07/01/2013 09:30

I took dds and a friend of theirs to see Warhorse, I snivelled a bit but I'm sorry to say they just giggled. Probably because it isn't a very good film, sadly. The cinematography is fantastic but the storyline clonks, which is a great shame as the book and the play are fantastic.
