I went to see the life of pi and there were children asking what waa happening all of the time.
Aibu to say that if your child is too young to understand thw stort then they shouldnr be there or tou should possibly fo to an empty row so that you arwnt distyrbing others who are trying to wath the film?

YANBU. A cinema is the wrong place if you need to give a running commentary. Wait for the DVD instead.

YANBU however to be fair it is being marketed as a family film, although I suspect its meant for older children. If a films a U its hard for parents to know what age range to bring.

We went to see it and I wish DD hadn't been old enough to understand what was going on - she was terrified by the storm and really upset that his family were gone.

The marketing is very misleading, it is not a film suitable for under 8's, imho.

theoriginalandbestrookie · 04/01/2013 18:37

Yes lovecat that's what I thought and is one of the reasons I'm not taking DS age 6 to see it ( that and he thought it looked boring Hmm) .

took dd to 'raiders of the lost ark' when she was a few weeks old. she didn't complain...

I took my 5 yr old to see it because I think it's a wonderful story and have loved it for years, i wanted to share it with her, and yes there were bits that she didn't understand. I would have liked to have known beforehand that there were going to be subtitled bits etc.

It's a PG afterall. On the whole she really enjoyed it, kept up well and only asked a few questions, but i did feel a bit guilty that she was about the youngest in there and she did talk a bit. The families either side of us didn't seem to mind though and we were very quiet.

It's bring advertised on Cartoon Network.

But yanbu, I've had people doing this in proper kids films, it's irritating.

This is the 2nd thread I've seen about this film with relation to young children watching it.
It does seem then that it is being marketed at young children who struggle to actually understand it.
